New punishment system

After multiple tickets to try to recover a banned account, I've been thinking a lot on how could I have prevented that and how could I fix that issue. So I though a new punishment system may be the best of both worlds. Heres my idea.

There will be two different punishments for two different type of players.

The duration of these punisments could go like these.

1st time flagged = 14 days 2nd time flagged = 30 days 3rd time flagged = Rest of the season 4th time flagged = Permanent mute

Players flagged for verbal abuse, negative attitude and harassment should have their account automatically muted for all players in the game, that way the player still has access to the chat box to see the pings and the tips of other players, and if you play with a duo or party, they can unmute you manually to see you talk at any moment in the game.

Now for the AFK's and Intentionally feeding players,

1st time flagged = 14 days 2nd time flagged = 30 days 3rd time flagged = Rest of the season 4th time flagged = Permanent PvP queue restriction

And for the AFK and Intentionally feeding players, once they have been flagged, they should be unable to join any matchmaking queue other than bots and custom games for a certain duration depending on the number of time flagged. These players will be able to play modes where AFK's and Intentionally feeding dont have the same impact.

And last for those who got their accounts locked, we could offer the same system and apply the 4th flagged punishment of each type of punishment.

Banned for toxicity 4th time flagged = Permanent mute

Banned for AFK'ing or Intentionally feeding 4th time flagged = permanent PvP matchmaking restriction

Anybody think this could be a good fix?

There is no reason to ban someone that paid money for a game without giving them a way to fix the problem.

You realize that you receive 3 warnings already before you're permabanned, right?

Edit: And also, playing with someone who can't chat because they're permanently muted is not a positive experience for his teammates either. This is a team game, after all.

well is beter than being perma banned for ever atleast you can play the game without chat you get what im saying rriot need to stop banning people forever it broke alot of souls

That's exactly my point. I play with people that dont talk at all in games more often than the opposite, and its actually making the game more enjoyable since you can focus on your gameplay rather than on replying to someone. I would rather be perma muted than banned. There are so many pings now that you actually dont even need to talk. But give me a way to prevent myself from typing since i cant control it.

Perm mutes don't work.

If a person is unable to control themselves in needing to inform people of how poorly they're doing or needing to insult people back, then if you mute them, they're unable to express themselves. Because the mute did not change who they were, they still need to express their discontent. Now, because they're muted, the only way to do that is through trolling. Perm mutes turn ragers into trolls, which is not the goal.

The goal is to reform people or get them to leave the game.

That doesn't make any sense. Would you put a guy in jail for telling you to shut up during a movie? No, exactly the same thing here, you tell someone to shut up and focus and you get reported for that, and later on, banned for the same thing. That's not how it works. You have the right to tell someone to shut up or to stop feeding without it being an insult. If people grew up instead of just reporting everyone because they are "butthurt", there wouldnt be any need for a punishment system at all.

There has to be a difference between shut up and go hang yourself, or stop 'fucking' feeding and your mom so fat she looks like a new planet? See what i mean? You just can't ban those 2 players permanently for that. One of them deserves it totally, but not the other one.

Actually, you can get sent to jail for telling people to shut up during a movie.

First, someone is talking during your movie! Then, you have to stand up to yell at them! Soon, you're kicked out of the movie theater for causing a disturbance.

The next movie you go to, the same thing happens. And the next.

Now you're banned from the local theater. You keep on going, sneaking in, and yelling at people. The informal "don't sell that guy a ticket" ban gets upgraded to a restraining order.

Violating a restraining order is a misdemeanor. Repeatedly violating a restraining order can be aggravated stalking, a felony. You can get thrown in prison for telling people to shut up during a movie.

The movie theater has a system for kicking out disruptive people already. The one they used to kick you out. They don't need or want your help in applying justice to the disruptive.

If you tell someone to 'shut up and focus' once, that's flagged as negative by the IFS if it's reported. It will contribute to your account's history of negativity. But, it will most likely not lead directly to a punishment.

If, however, you spend most of your chat and most of the game harping on someone, that'll be flagged as negative, and contribute much more quickly to being punished. If you shared your chat logs, we could discuss the differences.

If people grew up instead of insulting people for their performance in a game, there wouldn't need to be a punishment system at all. Well, we'd also need people to grow up and not afk, int or troll, but same thing.

There is a difference between "shut up" (mildly negative), "go hang yourself" (toxic, earns an escalated punishment), "stop fucking feeding" (toxic) and "your mom so fat she looks like a new planet" (joke).

There has to be a lot of mildly negative things for the system to give a penalty. It starts with a small penalty to say, "Cut that out a little, yeah?"

More toxic things, like accusing people of feeding,or asking for reports earn penalties more quickly.

Hate speech and urging self harm give escalated punishments, normally skipping two punishment tiers for a 14 day ban first offense or a perm ban if there were any other punishments for that account.

Jokes are not punished.

You contradict yourself. You say first ,"If people grew up....there wouldn't be any need for a punishment system at all." and then you say, "One of them deserves it (a ban) totally, but not the other one.".

This set makes me believe that you believe in punishments for chat offenses, but you have a difference of opinion as to what level of negativity should be considered an infraction.

For the jail part, you are going way too deep for absolutely no reason, first of all, nobody said yell, all i said was if someone tells them to shut up, big tone difference, and for the rest, i still think the only reason you should be perma banned is for telling self harm stuff or racist perhaps? Anyway we are getting away from the point, that the punishment for saying shut up is the same as saying go hang yourself, am i right? thats the issue right here.

And yes I do believe in punishments because I offered an alternative to permabans, and yes there is levels of toxicity, and yes i said one of them deserves a ban ( self harm ) and one doesnt ( shut up, insulting jokes ) and i dont see why you are trying to make me contradict myself, i'm saying what I believe is right, and what should be right as well.

And by the way, mom jokes are punished. as well as just saying mind your own business (cause that's rude and thats offensive to some people).

And also, ragers dont leave the game, if they get perma banned, they just buy another account even if its illegal, or they create another one cause riot is giving us the tools to rush accounts in a few days. Especially with the new preseason changes comming in.
