Feedback on honor system

Hello everyone,

Casual player here to share my thoughts and looking for everyone's opinion out of curiosity.

I've been playing on and off since mid season 2 and have watched the game and the community grow. Unfortunately, as the community grew, so did the toxicity amongst the players. The toxicity got so bad that I left for an entire season and moved to other games. But, since the majority of my friends still played league of legends I decided to come back for more. This time around I decided to type less. The mute system was my best bud. "Oh no, someone is pissing me off online! Whatever shall I do? mute", became my motto and my reaction to toxic players.

Everything was going well until it happened again. I became a toxic player. Dodging queues, berating my teammates, yelling at my friends over discord. The toxicity got to me and I began spreading the disease. The only thing that made me stop was the 20 minute slow queue timer. It forced me to take breathers between games and do other stuff while I wait for a game. (I kind of miss it to be honest) Then the new honor system rolled out.

I was glad to see Riot take matters more seriously. A new system that visibly rewards good behavior, and discourages toxicity by depriving them of exclusive rewards. I thought this would help remediate the toxicity in the game, but I feel that it's point was moot. I feel that people are misusing the honor system. From the last couple of games, I felt that only the team carry receives honor if our team won. Even if they were typing shit all game, as long as they hard carried they got honor. However, when our team loses it 'feels' that no-one deserves honor and I happily press that "Not this time button". Which got me thinking. If I'm misusing this system, what is stopping the rest of the player base of doing so?

What are your thoughts on this system? Do you feel its working/ its going to work, or not at all? How can we, as a community, help riot help us?

It's true, I often see the carry with the best score get most honored, but that's not to say that honors don't get handed out where they're deserved too. I try to hand out an honor every game, even if it takes me a minute to reflect on the game to determine who truly deserves it. I don't think I've had a game yet where I've skipped giving an honor out. (This is mostly because of the little extra honor everyone gets if everyone honors someone).

I feel like in every game at least 1 person deserves the honor. Whether it be a horrible loss or an easy win.

Sure, the honor system could use some improvements, but Riot said it's a work in progress anyways. For instance, honoring enemy players I would really like to see added, as well as maybe a system that limits the amount of honors you have to hand out on a given day (Or get granted 1 honor every 3 matches or something). I feel like if we were limited honors to hand out, they would have a higher impact and meaning.

New honor system is based on assumption you fight enemy team not opposing team. The system hss also removed honors from off-meta and supports as main reason for honor is kills exvept for support. Support with kills is reported, and support with assists is normal a.d ignpred.

Your average human cares more about winning than being nice.
