Has anyone else noticed an increased number of rage quitters lately?

It feels like every game for the past week or so has had at least one person starts saying GG 5 minutes into the game, and in about half the games someone goes afk in a fit of rage. I have talked to some friends, and they too have noticed that the number of people quitting and raging has been particularly high lately. I want to know if others in the community are experiencing this change, or if it is just that I my MMR has been in flux lately (I rose from low Bronze to high silver quickly, and then lost a bunch of games in a row) and I am playing with different people.

It could just be my MMR. It has been crazy lately (I had a very high win rate in Bronze, and made it to silver 2 with high LP. And then I started losing like 2/3 of my games and fell back down to silver 3), and I have been getting a weird selection of enemies/allies (anywhere from low bronze to high gold).

Or it could be nothing but random, like getting afks always is.

That is also a possibility. That is why I made this post. I wanted to find out if I am just having bad luck or if it is widespread.

Same happens to me, and I'm way over in EU. Got ranked silver 1 after going 8/10 (Gold 5 last season).

Basically what happens to me is this:

a) Completely dominate the earlygame, lose due to deathtimers and 1 bad teamfight b) Lose the earlygame, enemy snowballed hard from it.

Both of those cases are perfectly fine, however:

c) Ally dies once in Lane, flames all game Long d) Ally receives no ganks, flames all game Long.

If it's not something of the above it's "Omg noob Support, Report x9"

The thing is people are raging because an early game bully managed to bully them early. Its like, we have Nasus top and they have Pantheon, and pantheon manages to get a couple kills early so everyone wants to ff at 20. Of course Pantheon is going to get early kills, that is kinda his thing. But if we try we can wait him out until he falls off, and Nasus will be stronger then him. But noo... I get outvoted and am forced to FF.

Oh Boy yes.

I wish they would remove the surrender vote from ranked. If I Queue up for a ranked game I want to compete, not give up once it gets hard.

I haven't seen any rage quitters, I have seen a lot of players who give up after about 10 minutes. I think this has to do more with the snowball effect of League in this current season.

I was going to upvote because it's Laughing Fish, but then I was going to downvote because no gif. I'm at an impasse.

i can only assume that this is to the laughable punishements you get by the leavebuster. 20min for 5 games is the hardest you can get? LOL dude i watch a livestream/lets play while that is running in the background. seriously couldnt even care less about 20min.

and i never had a leavebuster warning just saying

I don't think that is it. I have gotten a warning and low priority queue before because I left 2 games (one because of a family medical emergency, and then another from a power outage), and my brother got a ban because he had the same two plus his PC crashed once. The punishments are pretty strict in regards to afks, which makes it all the more odd that people would keep leaving.

Beginning of the season is over. With it, a lot of peoples dreams of climbing the ladder has been smashed. People are where they are going to be pretty much and they just don't care anymore. Happens every season around this time.

More features that tend to frustrate ppl this reason. When they're frustrated they're more likely to act negatively. Eventually their mood drops to the point where they either give up an unpleasant game or make others suffer in order to make themselves feel better in the process. Things may improve when weekly featured game modes come out, where ppl tend to relax, yolo, and care less about sufferings but not for now.
