I didnt offend anyone except the malphite one time this isnt worthy of a perma ban. I'd appreciate it if you guys could unban me. Most of this was friendly banter with the friend i was playing with. Thanks for your time. :)

You spent way too much time discussing real-life matters that have no business showing up in an online game. Many of those comments, even if directed at your "friend", could have been interpreted very poorly by others. If that's really just banter, and really only aimed at your friend, you need to keep it out of the game and use voice chat instead.

Not sure why anyone is getting banned for tame stuff when we can just mute someone we find annoying.

For the tame stuff, this is a completely reasonable expectation vs banning someone.

For tame stuff that really only amounts to annoying... chat bans are sufficient. Especially considering snowflakes can mute the annoying player.

Right so if he's gone up the discipline ladder, the permanent ban is to be expected.

My point is the ladder is broken. His chat log is annoying, not abusive, not toxic (and the mom joke was funny).

Chat restrictions are sufficient until a person crosses a line, which he did not in the logs I read.

If the minor punishments(chat restrictions) don't get them to stop the behavior then they goto a more severe punishment(14 day ban) and if that doesn't change it there is no reason to think they will change anymore so they are removed.

It's not like this really applies to the OP anyway. He was being homophobic, reference to down syndrome, and spamming open mid on top of the generic annoyance that you seem to file the whole thing under.

If he traveled up each rung of the discipline ladder, he has nothing to complain about. He was forwarned.

But the ladder is broken. This is light hearted stuff, the vast majority of it seems to be said in jest.

Muting is reasonably effective, yes. But there comes a point where all this little stuff adds up and is causing way too many players to have less fun games.

This is a community of complete strangers, but we're still human beings and deserve to be treated the same as you would treat someone you might meet on the street.

If the first thing you say to a total stranger is "I'm single", what do you expect their reaction would be? Some would find it genuinely funny, but most would be put off-balance and quickly try to hide a look of vague disgust/contempt. Now imagine that you happen to be walking the same direction for a while (stuck in a half-hour game with them); this total stranger just met you, and their first impression of you is not likely to be a favorable one. They can try to carry on a normal conversation anyway, with that initial statement still hanging in the air. Or they can ignore you (muted) and you both silently continue on your way, but they'll keep seeing you out of the corner of their eye and feel uncomfortable.

If this happens on a consistent basis, eventually someone is going to be offended/creeped out enough to call the cops on you. And that's just one inappropriate statement; all 3 of the chat logs presented are worse than that. Not enough for a permanent ban all by themselves, but with enough prior reports these could be (and apparently were) enough to push them over the top.

Seems like harmless trash talking. Not bannable in my opinion. Shit like that is why I try not to talk much in games. You never know what crazy shit you could get banned for.

If you were abusing someone for having a bad game like all the shit junglers get when laners fuck up and feed then yea I could understand a ban. Bullying and all that, but you weren't targeting anyone in particular, maybe except for that Nami, even then I didn't think it was all that bad. You teased about him building Dorans on Nami which I think is not too bad. I didn't think you were even really pissed about it.

To be honest, you whole chat was makes you seem like a pretty fun person to play with. Very entertaining trash talker. TLDR; I wasn't offended by anything in those logs.

I had no idea there was an emo concert going on in the forums!?! I report toxic/troll players all the time, and end up back in game with them, right after they troll my game. I don't use homophobic slurs or 9 year old humor on them, for payback. I ignore them. Siimple as that.

A chat restriction would suffice... unless you've progressed up the discipline ladder and you've already been chat restricted.

Personally, I think bans should be reserved for agregious stuff. Just chat restrict people for months if need be for the tame stuff.

Also... responsibility should be laid on other players as well to just mute someone they find annoying.

And some of you guys say that it is just trashtalk. You say its not for permaban. I am ok with somebody insulting me and I am happy to ignore/insult back if I am triggered. But insulting someones family is just wrong and should be punished with permaban, we dont need these kind of kids in this community...
