Should I Play Ranked?

I've been playing league for a while now, maybe about 1 year. I can play all roles except for jungler. But I'm nervous about ranked because I hear lots of complaints on the boards about ranked, like intentional feeding and trolls in ranked. I only play normals and I think I have about 800 games on it.

Ranked is an entirely different beast. For me: playing ranked is less about fun and just being better and climbing the mountain to show how good you are at the game pretty much. You're more prone to meet raging teammates, teammates who will give up off of first blood, more toxic opponents, etc its really a different atmosphere. My suggestion to you would be to mute all chat, mute toxic teammates immediately, and playing solo always remember; its 1v9(unless you luck up and get a few sane teammates), not 5v5..unless youre duo or flex then its 2v7/5v5...otherwise play like youre playing for yourself and you have to carry bots. Hate to say it like that but I've met sooooooo many toxic teammates it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I'd much rather be dealing with the community on the boards than in game, especially ranked.

Honestly just as toxic, if you have a good attitude it's not a problem. Also that mute button helps!

Don't let the boards scare you away from ranked. True trolling/inting happens a lot less often than what is portrayed on the boards. The boards are for the most part filled with a very vocal minority of the player base. 9 times out of 10 when a person claims that all their games are filled with trolls and inters and toxic people, you can bet your ass that they are most likely part of the problem themselves.

Ranked is the same as normal except that you only play with people with the same skill range. If you are the competitive type and if you like to challenge yourself and work on improving then you should play ranked. If you only mess arround and play only for fun then you probably shouldn't.

Play ranked if you want to. It's your choice.

Youve waited about the exact amount of time that i suggest to players to wait before going into ranked. I always tell ppl wait til you have a minimum of 600 wins or about 1 year played. You dont realize how much you dont know until you make the mistake of hopping into ranked too soon or as soon as you hit lvl 30. Which is something almost every new player does. Then they get placed in low Bronze and are stuck there forever because its everyone else's fault. Ranked is a fun & competitive environment that isnt all filled with toxic d-bags. Just play the game and keep your thoughts to yourself. Use the ping system instead of chat to communicate. Without ranked i wouldnt even play league....i get super bored easily in normals wihout the competitive aspect being there. In my opinion ranked is where its at, and if you're not going to play the game to get better at it, then why waste your time playing at all? But hey thats just me

If you want to. Yeah, people get mad faster, but people get mad in normal games too. If you think you want to see where your current skill level is go for it; it's a lot of fun. If you don't really care just play normals

It's hyper toxic, and it makes me hate playing this game.

if you have a solid kda usually in norms and trolls, feeders, and ragers dont bother you i'd say go for it. the people on the boards complaining are often part of the problem, their "feeders" and "trolls" are often just people having a bad game. just be prepared for the idiots and jerks and dont let it get to you

You should play. My friend waited 2 years to seriously play ranked because she was scared and regrets it because everyone is now gold+ while she's still stuck in silver. And you can honestly improve when people more serious about winning the game!

Play it. Just don't go 100% ranked only.

Ranked will be harder competition at some point. If you start losing a lot and it's partially your fault (you're dying in Lane / your Lane opponents are getting kills elsewhere, etc...) for several games in a row, take a break go to normals and practice up a bit.

Basically, i think ranked play will help you continue to develop better and you'll regret not starting earlier if you start and do well in silver and get to high silver or gold for example. However if you start and lose a bunch and destroy your mmr to low bronze it will be pretty awful, so if you're not individually playing well you're better off practicing up in normals for a bit.

Also a word of advice - if you lose 2 or 3 games in a row on the same day, don't keep playing ranked for the day. It seems most players will just randomly get days where they lose every game they play - better to lose 2 or 3 than 8 or 9.

Yeah, why not? Playing only normals must get old. No record of your performance, just every game standing alone and thrown out. It feels pointless to me. If you feel the same way, definitely start playing ranked. There's really no reason not to play ranked. It's not much different from normals behavior wise, in my experience. They are a little more challenging, since usually people actually try their best and you don't run into as many people trying new champs or just fucking around inebriated. Of course that does happen, but I think it's not as often.

U shouldn't due to the fact that riot doesn't know how to properly rank people and high elo people end up in low and riot never ban the people who trolls
