We're all being brainwashed. Words don't kill, there's a limit to everything but this isn't it.

You called someone an idiot once? Banned. You said the word "kys" to your IRL friend who you're laughing with on discord? Banned. And we all accept this. We're being brainwashed. What happened to the freedom of speech? I know there's a limit to everything, don't go around wishing cancer on someone's parents, but calling someone an idiot once should not result in a permanent ban. Disclaimer: I am not banned myself, but I do visit these boards quite a lot and the stuff I see is just beyond understanding. Disclaimer: That's irrelevant, yet you all would've told me "stop being toxic". You're all brainwashed. Telling someone he's an idiot doesn't kill him. Yes, it's ok to punish me for that with a ban. No, it's not ok to punish me for that with a permanent "we never want to see you again"-ban. This has gone too far. If this pace keeps up, in 2020 we're not allowed to speak anymore. Making a baron call will get you banned, since you're telling other people what to do. That's offensive. Saying hi to your teammates will get you banned, you're distracting them from the game. Offensive as fuck. I just said fuck, I will get banned. Yet we keep the chat enabled, and no we don't have an option to disable it. Oh and you are free to create a$ many new account$ a$ you want after being permanently banned, we don't mind at all, ju$t make $ure to buy the late$t champion$ $o you're not too far behind from other player$. I think my time with League is over, I had some fun but the system is a joke. Thanks, bye.

Edit: And yes, all of you will be answering this with stuff like "yeah calling other idiot is bannable". Only because you've been brainwashed into thinking so. Nowhere in human history has anything like this ever happened before. If your friend is being an idiot, it is encouraged to tell him to stop. It's encouraged not to let him drunk drive. But if someone is inting, it will lead into a ban to tell him to stop. It's punishable with permanent banishment if you don't like someone's style of intentionally ruining your game. Again, I have not been banned, yet all of the above is true. Except for the 2020 part maybe. You all browse these forums daily, down voting those who dare to say that calling someone an "idiot" doesn't really equal to killing someone. You're all brainwashed, you all know it, yet you do nothing about it.

Edit 2: Yes, I did mention freedom of speech. On one line. Now two. God job leaving comments about that one line and ignoring the big picture. No wonder you're all brainwashed.

You called someone an idiot once? Banned.

Nope. Not happening.

You said the word "kys" to your IRL friend who you're laughing with on discord? Banned.

Yes, because you're not alone in that chat. If you convincingly pretend to committ a crime in public and somebody calls the cops on you, you'll still get in trouble.

What happened to the freedom of speech?

Nothing. Literally nothing. It still applies only to the government.

Telling someone he's an idiot doesn't kill him. Yes, it's ok to punish me for that with a ban. No, it's not ok to punish me for that with a permanent "we never want to see you again"-ban.

Let's ignore the permanent ban for now (since once again: Nope. Not happening.) and focus on the first bit: Thankfully we live in a society where even things that do not literally end somebody's life are punished, because honestly, comparing things to murder is about the lowest bar you could possibly set for moral standards.

If this pace keeps up, in 2020 we're not allowed to speak anymore. Making a baron call will get you banned, since you're telling other people what to do. That's offensive. Saying hi to your teammates will get you banned, you're distracting them from the game. Offensive as fuck.

If we don't punish toxicity in 2020 League of Legends will be replaced in its entirety by real-life fights to the death while we sacrifice babies to Satan. See? I can make completely baseless and ridiculous predictions in lieu of actual arguments, too.

I just said fuck, I will get banned.

Third time's a charm: Nope. Not actually happening.

Yet we keep the chat enabled, and no we don't have an option to disable it.

You could just mute everybody, but hey, simply blaming somebody else for not catering to your inability to control yourself to the slightest extent is even easier than that, I suppose.

Oh and you are free to create a$ many new account$ a$ you want after being permanently banned, we don't mind at all, ju$t make $ure to buy the late$t champion$ $o you're not too far behind from other player$.

What do you suggest to actually keep people out of the game? If you can find a feasible method that cannot be circumvented with the know-how equivalent to one minute of googling that doesn't punish innocents I'm sure Riot will implement it in a heart beat.

Seriously all of these things have been mentioned before... none of them are logically sound and some of them are straight up objectively false. And regarding those false facts, are you sure it's the others that are brainwashed?

but calling someone an idiot once should not result in a permanent ban.

It doesn't. There are multiple punishments before the permanent ban step, and players go through each of them before finally being permanently banned (though more extreme behavior can skip a few punishment tiers). Calling someone an idiot once will only net you a chat restriction, if any punishment at all. If you get permanently banned for calling someone an idiot, then you would have gone through the other punishments beforehand warning you that your behavior is unacceptable, and yet you still refuse to change it.

You said the word "kys" to your IRL friend who you're laughing with on discord? Banned.

You said the word "kys" in a public chat with 3 other people who don't know the context. Ban deserved.

You called someone an idiot once? Banned.

You are calling other people's names? Pretty unsportsmanlike dude. But it takes more than "once". Either way, ban deserved.

What happened to the freedom of speech?

Doesn't exist in Riot's private back yard. Don't like it? Go play DOTA.

Saying hi to your teammates will get you banned, you're distracting them from the game. Making a baron call will get you banned, since you're telling other people what to do.

This is not only not correct, it's not even wrong.

I think my time with League is over, I had some fun but the system is a joke. Thanks, bye.

Wont get banned for telling someone there an idiot "once" No way for riot to know if you two are friends, all they see is you telling someone to kill themselves. This freedom of speech argument is getting annoying, yes freedom of speech protects you when u say something public, but riot is a private company and can control what is said in there game. They can ban you for whatever reason they want, go tell someone to kill them selves in real life, then you will be protected. "Making a baron call will get you banned, since you're telling other people what to do. That's offensive." - no it wont. "I think my time with League is over, I had some fun but the system is a joke." k bye.

Freedom of speech means the goverment can't punish you for what you say.

It doesn't mean people can't call you out for being a dick.

EvilDustMan11/17/2017, 9:29:00 PM3 votes

It doesn't devastate. It doesn't ruin their lives. It's annoying. You are annoying. People don't want to play in the same game as you, Riot agrees.

redniwediS11/17/2017, 9:07:58 PM3 votes

So you're just going to group people up into those that agree and those that are brainwashed? I'm glad most people don't focus on in/out group style arguments, otherwise we'd have a serious problem... Oh wait.

SuperLuigiLXIV11/17/2017, 9:11:10 PM2 votes

I'm sorry, in what sport do you get to walk up to a teammate and call them names when they don't do something perfectly?

Because when I played basketball and baseball and football (American, not the real one), people didn't say that shit to your face during the middle of the game. They said it behind your back to their closest friends on the team AFTER the game, sure, but doing it mid-game woulda gotten you thrown on the bench in a hot second, and possibly off the team as well.

The most dangerous thing to do nowadays is to type. Especially since the IFS basically works like a giant chat/spam filter :( I miss the tribunal days where actual human beings were involved in the process.....even if punishments did come 4-5 months later.

DariusDemiurge11/17/2017, 8:41:57 PM2 votes

You're not wrong about the brainwashing. Just look at society, a lot of antilogic and softening up of people.

Warios11/17/2017, 8:47:38 PM2 votes

Freedom of speech is centered on an ideal from the United States, this is a global game, those ideals don't always carry through to the rest of the world.

Xidphel11/17/2017, 8:50:18 PM2 votes

No we're not. Don't be hypnotoad- I mean ridiculous.

This is a video game for fuck sake. If the company that owns it wants to enforce these rules it's their property to do with what they will. As for you, just move on nobody loses out but Riot if you leave. It's the same rule if someone puts a video on youtube you don't like, just leave it. Don't comment, don't watch it, don't (like/dislike) it. Your lack of interest in a product punishes the company far more than an essay on their forums ever will.

Everyone is brainwashed in some form of another. It's called influenced by other's values, and I'm glad I that Riot has the same values as me.
