Positive players need more reward

I'm writing to express my concerns on the increasing amount of negative players I encountered in the game.

I'm an adult who have a full time job and only play the game for leisure and relaxation. However, the increase amount of negative behaviours does not make this a fun game for me any more.

For example, I have encountered numerous games where one or more players:

  1. intentionally ban the champs, where other players have already chosen the champ
  2. refuse to play the assigned role and threat others to feed if refuse
  3. intentionally feeding
  4. IMPORTANT - refuse to work with team (i.e. farm all games, do not participate in team fight etc.) to achieve a positive/perfect score

The current tribunal system is not quiet working for the following reasons :

  1. information asymmetry / insufficient communication - the people who report others do not receive timely feedbacks on the results. This not only demotivate players to report further negative behaviours, but also fails to raise the awareness of the negative behaviours they encountered in the game.

  2. The positive players are not rewarded enough - players are HELPING the tribunals to build a pleasant gaming environment. However, there is no reward system in place for players who constantly report/assist negative behaviours (I personally have to gift other players skins to motivate them to report a bad behaviour). In another word, some players may think why bother to report ? What are the chances I run into a bad player again?

I have to say that I have found nothing but disappointing in the gaming environment recently. I would have to move on to other games if the issue is not solved. The only way to achieve sustainability in the game is not only through innovating new champs, but also innovating in the gaming environment management system.

The reward is not being salty.

Positive players already get a reward, they get to play the game.

Toxic players are banished to the pre level 30 players.

Play with me so I can receive a skin for reporting someone !! :D PD: Sorry man. I just HAD to xDDDDD

But what will they receive? =\ Yes, is desmotivating that bad players are out there ruining everyone's fun. -__-

What if the victorious skin isnt applied to good behaviour players? But once again, there are tons of bad players that will receive it anyway, because the system doesn't work against them .__. =\

It wouldnt fair for Riot to give RP. And I say this, because I know someone will come and say "Give us RP!!" .__.

Riot are not really into positive reinforcement. They have been so stingy with rewards that Ebenezer Scrooge would call them miserly. No, they want you to PAY. They want MONEY. They'll punish you for chat logs at the drop of a hat, but throwing players a little free bone once in a while? Ha.

We got a skin at some point if you didn't get banned or chat restricted(I forget when). So we got that going for us.

But honestly, first of all, bad idea to gift people to report. If those things are tilting you so much, then perhaps you should take a step back and calm down. You also don't need to do this, since the number of reports per game doesn't matter as long as the automated system finds something (in chat logs, KDA, whatever they implement it to check for) to ban the player for.

Secondly, it's like rewarding a mob after asking them to lynch someone. If Riot came out with a policy that says you get a skin, or whatever reward after a certain amount of reports have been filed, then a few possibilities arise

  1. The reward is just not good enough and no one really cares or changes behavior.
  2. The reward is so good that people just start reporting everyone in order to get a reward. Even if you do something like, only valid reports where someone was banned will count towards the reward, you probably get people who bait others into bad behaviors like cursing and raging in order to get that reward.

Don't give someone incentive to report another person if they had no motivation on their own. It's just a bad idea.

I would suggest adding people you find to be friendly during your games to your list so you can play with them and be less tilted that way. I personally find it far more frustrating to have a toxic teammate then an enemy. Surround yourself with good people! You'll find that despite this community being pretty damn shitty at times there's still some good people here and there.
