Player Behavior FAQ:: Read before posting!

I was on another thread regarding this subject and i just have to ask. Who else is sick of these shelter people trying to police what we can say cause they have yet to develop a thick skin? I miss the old days of online gaming where you could say whatever with no repercussions and people just took it on the chin or fired back. Now its "OOOOOOOOH he said a bad thing about how bad I'm playing report him for expressing his frustration with me!!! I don't deserve to be treat like this!" And to be fair if he is 0/7 10 minutes in then, yes by all means he is just as bad and doesn't have a hill to stand on. But if you're the one who is cause you're team to lose in ranked then you deserve all the shit flung at you until you can turn it around. In other thread that was an FAQ about player behavior the poster had some key phrases that everyone has seen in past games. All which they labeled as negative criticism and I simply translated into a more proper wording they are expecting from other player to sugar coat with. And now i Ask you the community what are some key phrases toward players not playing their role properly that you have seen or used and I will help get the message across.

Examples: "wtf dude why didn't you" ----------> "the optimal play was so obvious how didn't you know what to do?" "you're legit the worst i've ever had" ------> "you are worse than the last person I had" "uninstall" --------> "find a new game this one doesn't seem to be a right fit for you" "trash mid." ---------- > "this role isn't for you or you need more practice" "this jg legit hasnt ganked at all and still cant do anything" --------> "I've been under tower all game against a bad match up please help" "mid hasnt done anything all game" ----------> "The enemy mid is on top of his game" "this toplaner is inting" --------> " Top is not learning from their mistakes and is building wrong" "you're legit brain damaged" --------> "I question you're intelligence" "how tf did you think that was a good idea" --------> "how id you not see that was going to happen?"

Then you need to grow the fuck up. Honestly. This whole concept that "because its online I should be able to be an asshole to other human beings" is the most childish thing ever. No, you don't deserve shit flung at you simply because you have a bad game. Get over yourself and get off your high horse please. Absolutely absurd.

Who else is sick of these toxic boors trying to police what we can punish cause they have yet to develop manners? I miss the old days of human interaction where you couldn't say whatever with no repercussions and people behaved or faced the consequences. Now its "OOOOOOOOH I can't say a bad thing about how bad they're playing and insult him for not being good at a video game??? I don't deserve to be treat like this!" And to be fair if he has the social graces of a woodlouse, yes by all means he is just as bad and doesn't have a hill to stand on. But if you're the one who is flaming your team to lose in ranked then you deserve all the shit flung at you until you can turn it around.

Those "sugar coated" examples, since they mean approximately the same thing as what they replace, would be judged approximately the same by the IFS.

Chat is a tool designed to help your team win the game. Use it for that purpose.

A few things:

Trash talking: (Someone misses an easy shot/execute/smite/etc): Nice one, way to get that kill|smite|etc

Harassment (Someone misses an easy shot/execute/smite/etc): you're legit brain damaged (to use one of your examples).

Hey look someone who is probably fairly new to online gaming. So if you have someone literally running it down mid you just say "oh don't worry you'll get them next time" as they proceed to throw away a promo you played very hard to get. If you do then congrats you're an enabler of bad behavior because you care more about the one person who is trash than the others who are genuinely trying to enjoy the game and win because that person maybe ruining the game but hey he is a human being and he shouldn't suffer any consequence for his actions.

It is not about caring more, it is about all unacceptable behavior, chat or gameplay. Just because someone is breaking the rules does not give you license to do so as well.

Reporting for verbal gets more a response than someone feeding so spare me the "report for feeding and move on".

No, it is more frequently, and quickly, punished because it is easier to detect. If inting was as easy to detect as chat behavior, I guarantee the boards would be flooded with people complaining that "I wasn't inting, it was just a bad game!" There is also confirmation bias going on here. In many cases, people truly don't understand why their chat is unacceptable or they disagree with the rules. Most people truly inting, and punished for it, one can surmise that they know they were and know that it is against the rules. So they take their lumps and don't post here about it.

I personally find nothing more frustrating than doing everything right just to have someone come and mess it up then demand they be showered with praise.

To be honest, the fact that this is a team game, and it requires team effort to play well, anything other than 5v5 teams seems crazy to me. It is like playing in an organized league of basketball/baseball/soccer/football/hockey/etc with a bunch of random people you found at the local Starbucks. It makes no sense. The problem is most of the playerbase don't have the time to put in the time to practice enough for 5v5s. This is exactly why I don't and never will, play ranked solo/duo.

If you don't think people are assholes online then I have to ask where have you been? There's no changing how people are going to act behind a screen instead change yourself to be strong and not take things said in an online game seriously.

How about instead of treating the internet as a protective shield where you act like a complete and utter jackass in the face of anonymity, treat the random players as they are sitting right next to you; remember that there is an actual person at the other end of that chatbox.

So instead of venting to either an afk troll or someone who feeds from misplays then afks you would rather players just go to forums to vent where they will be told they are acting foolish. Instead of venting to other people in the game and have some sort of moment of collective hatred for the one or more persons ruining for everyone and you want to ban people for that instead of just letting what needs to be said out to the person who caused it. Because humans are so special yet they cant handling things said in a virtual space?

Collective hatred helps...how?

Hint: it doesn't help at all

What needs to be said? You need to start flaming? Is it going to help?

Answers: 1) Nothing, 2) No, 3) No

All it serves is to breed further discontent within the team. If you are losing at the time you start berating your teammates, you will surely be losing even harder after. Again, pretend you are in-person, playing a pick-up game of basketball, because that is essentially what solo/duo queue.

I'm not the one trying to get someone banned from a game because i do poorly and get flamed. I know my feelings are not above anyone elses' I know people get mad and say things that shouldn't be said. You hurt yourself on accident you curse and its relieving in a way why is it any different when you do it to someone screwing your game is all I'm asking? Why does the guy who ruins everything you worked for get a pass for his feelings but yours of anger and frustration have to bottled up for the sake of them? Yet they can do all the toxic in game behavior they want as long as it isnt saying anything that can be taken out of context that can be negative?

Curse all you want. You can say any fucking curse word your god damned heart desires. Say that shit with me, out loud if you want:

FUCK

The difference is you are not directing this at anyone in particular. Once you decide to say "you fucking suck, uninstall" it is harassment. Plain and simple.

Lastly, use the reply button on another reply here, rather than using the main box. Otherwise, you are losing the conversational nature of the boards, and your posts can get out of order (and no longer appear to be coherent).

While it's true we shouldn't let every insult affect us too much, the ones who actually need to grow up and get a thicker skin are the ones who think it's okay to harass and be a jerk to others and then pitch a fit when they're held accountable for their behavior. There's nothing wrong with expecting people to have some basic common sense, decency, maturity and sportsmanship, nor is it wrong to punish those that refuse to show it.

We live in a world with tons of entertainment options, and people are more likely to stop using an entertainment option if they're no longer getting any enjoyment out of it, such as when a whole bunch of people are using it as a place to abuse and harass others. Companies like Riot know this, hence why they set some basic guidelines to follow that encourage mature and respectful interaction & discourage the opposite. Why? Well to quote Kei143:

When Riot permabans someone, their philosophy is "the chances of this guy reforming isn't a whole lot, we'd rather not have him in the game". Thus in their eyes, they have already written off the toxic player as a paying client.

From a business standpoint, do they want to remove the toxic guy who has spent $500 but is causing a negative environment for 4-9 other players in every game? Those non-toxics are also spending $500 and probably will spend more, promote the game more when they are enjoying the game AND they won't cause a negative environment.

I personally think it is a fine argument to protect the ones that are paying money and aren't toxic rather than protecting the ones that may pay the same amount but are toxic.

Also to quote Umbral Regent:

If you got your main account permanently banned, the only way you can prove your reform is to not get any further accounts banned.

Riot isn't going to give you infinite chances, they have to put their foot down somewhere - and that somewhere happens to be after the 14-day ban. If you can't be bothered to listen to three separate warnings at the very least, then, why should your main account be given a fourth try? You've already proven three separate times that you don't care about the rules.

My opinion is that if you're worth getting your account back, you wouldn't have gotten it banned in the first place.

So as you can see consistently disruptive people drive business away, so it's in the company's best interest to discourage them from acting like that since satisfied customers=more business while dissatisfied customers=less business. It's not worth trying to do business with or associate with someone who's constantly causing trouble for others. If being forced to mind your manners when around others is too much to ask for you then multiplayer games are just not for you.

While i think online harassment is a joke in general and it takes a shitload to offend me. I mean seriously, get a real job and see how people treat you. People are not nice. You being sheltered is only making you unable to face the real world. However with that said, actively harassing a guy for 1 bad game is not right entirely either. Try being constructive if youre going to criticize him.
