Man what a game this is. Fun battles with friends making new friends and having joyous times in the rift. But all that changes when you get flamed. Your having a bad day or what not something in the game doesn't go your way and you get flamed for it happens to everyone. But what i have discovered you will be suspended for being the victim of the flame and saying something back. What a game.

Chermorg6 votesWhen you fight fire with fire, you cease to be solely an innocent victim/bystander but you instead become a perpetrator. There is no excuse for causing a negative game for others - even if others have already been negative, you do not have the right to increase the negativity.
MAD is OOB gg2 votesHonestly, I have been playing the game for many years and I don't think the punishment system has changed peoples attitudes in game. What has changed is the words being used and the subtlety of statements by players. Unfortunately games are still being ruined by players but in different ways than they used to be, I think this is a direct result of the way Riot handles these things. I want them to have a system that works...
Chermorg2 votesThe system is actually quite good at detecting mild harassment, mild toxicity, and subtle insults. If you just peruse threads here for a while and look at peoples' chat logs, you'll see that many are punished for milder forms of toxic behaviors. That being said, the system can't catch everything, and there comes a time when it does get so mild to be irrelevant and not deserve punishment.
That being said, that doesn't particularly relate to the fact that both the instigator and the retaliator are punished - there's no excuse for any toxicity.
MAD is OOB gg1 votesI know there's no excuse for it, that being said, I don't feel like the system has changed attitudes of players in game. This is an opinion after playing thousands of games over the course of 5 years. From my perspective the best attitudes players ever had was in the first 2 years of the game before any type of punishment system was in place.
zPOOPz1 votesAnd that's why perma bans are issued. League is not a school, it is a game. Players are given a number of chances to change. if they don't, perma is a way of saying they are not welcome in League anymore. 3 chances (escalated punishment notwithstanding) to change or gtfo. Rito is not trying THAT hard to change people (they are trying to run a game, not a school).

This is inaccurate. You get suspended for your chat, not anyone else's. If your chat is harassing or insulting other players, then you will be punished for it.

You could have chat filled with "Fuck off newbie" to a genuinely nice player or to Satan/Teemo, but neither chat should be held to different standards.
HeyBigGuyHeyBudd1 votesIDK, maybe i take the game too seriously, but when someone comes in game with the sole purpose of feeding and making your 15-20 minutes miserable then I often times become toxic and flame that person. The. These kids come in game and use 'hes being toxic' as a defense to their negative attitude and that in and of itself is why the community is so toxic.

**You get suspended for adding to the toxic environment. Defending yourself is muting the offender and reporting them after the game. When someone retaliates with more toxicity, then they're part of the problem. Others behavior does not give you a free pass to act like them. **
