Harsher Disciplinary Action Please

So Season 10 is my first season back since Season 4 and I really like the new items, dragons, herald, etc. Overall the game is better, however, I only play ranked and managed to climb from bronze 4 to gold 3 but have not been able to climb any further due to people trolling and going AFK. The game is seriously unplayable now and unless you gain quite a bit of LP from wins, you will find yourself as frustrated as me. I am consistent in every match and do well, but it feels as though I am matched with really toxic players and AFKers. Why does Riot allow this kind of toxicity in their game? I was Gold 1 in Season 4 and don't remember this much toxicity and people going afk; unless you were in Bronze. Riot should ban players from ranked if they AFK too many games or troll their team. Why drive out the decent players that enjoy playing ranked because of trolls? I don't get it. Make the punishment harsher to steer people from trolling please.

They don't? Last I checked players are still not allowed to be toxic and intentionally sabotage their team. Of course other than that, nothing's stopping them from doing it.

Riot should ban players from ranked if they AFK too many games or troll their team.

For what amount of time? Normally they would receive a 2-week suspension, and after that they're on thin ice for a while, and if they do it again they receive a permanent ban.

The best you can do now is report them after the game, and then send a ticket with a video of them inting as proof.

Okay thanks, I'll try to start recording it. I always report players but it doesn't say they were punished like it does sometimes so I figure they just get away with it.

Having a rule without reasonable enforcement is akin to not having a rule.

I've had two teammates in just the last week who were actually troll accounts. They were throwing matches intentionally, with usernames like "LPFeederRiotSux" and a match history with a 15% win rate over months of games where their personal scores were 1-11, 2-19, 0-7, 0-12, 3-11 etc. In game, the griefing was more evident. Using flash in spawn, using heal the second a teammate that they could have saved dies and throwing up an emote, not buying items remotely related to their champion/position, playing Tahm Kench and eating teammates to either inhibit farm or reposition them into the enemy team, etc.

It's pretty insane that people who aren't even trying to hide troll behavior can have months of this consistent match history. You have to imagine they've been reported dozens of games by perhaps hundreds of players. And no action.

Honestly I've had about 6-7 games today where people die twice and just leave the game. I'll have one good game, then a game or two of leavers. Like two days ago I had a duo that were playing on accounts just to troll. They were saying the n word constantly and feeding like crazy. When I said I was gonna report them and they would be banned, they said these are our alt accounts to troll and if they get banned, they'll just make another account.

WRONG. Please don't say this erroneous line anymore. Simply can not blame others behavior for your rank climbing ability, unless the truth of it is that you're instigating the bad behavior.

You may have been unlucky, but in reality, if you don't do this, the fact that others do is actually A SLIGHT ADVANTAGE for you. 5/9 probability is the enemy is getting afk/troll/feeder and 4/9 your team does.

Now regarding the rest...

AFK punishments are roughly where there must be. They've gone back and forth on it; any harsher and legitimate players get pissed for unfair punishment, any more lenient and more afks will happen.

The idea of banning for AFK would outright result in fury: imagine having an unlucky string of a couple client drops followed by loss of service due to weather and then a power outage. Oops, buh bye $600 account, too bad so sad. Yeah: no. Not even slightly acceptable.

When being dropped from the game for reasons outside players control approaches null, then we can talk about bans. Lots of people don't live in skyrises where service almost never drops, and even they do get dropped from games sometimes. I bet you have too.

Do I have to? Can you honestly say that you've never had games where people go afk after one death? People rage over getting camped then going afk? People getting mad then running down your lane over and over? It's roughly 50% of games this happens. Your proof is actually playing the game.

You're either deliberately not understanding or have real reading comprehension problems. His point was that over time that will happen more on the enemy team than yours, unless you are the problem. Either way, if it's stopping you climbing then it's your fault - if it's happening more on your team than the other team then you are toxic and causing your teammates to ragequit. So no, you can't blame others for your failure to climb over time.

You have no proof to back up that statement though. Sure statistically you can say there's 5 people on the other team that can throw the game opposed to the 4 people on your team. That doesn't mean the dive rolls in your favor every game. It's literally a game of chance. Sometimes you get 10 games in a row where you get an afk teammate. There are some things you literally can't help.

Like you just said, across a season 60% of those throwers will be on the other team; unless you are doing something to change that percentage. Since you're obviously and proudly toxic then it's logical to say that some games it's your fault your team is going afk. If you didn't chat your win rate would go up and you'd climb faster, even if only slightly.

Honestly this conversation goes to show you it's more than just in game league. I came on here to discuss harsher punishments for those that constantly go AFK or troll which prevents me (as well as others) from climbing in ranked, yet ya'll just attack each other instead of speaking civil. Sure, some matches the other team has the AFK, but that's why I am just sitting stuck at Gold 4 because it's back and forth. I win a few games, then I lose a few games.

TDRight, you're not wrong about having a lot of toxic players, but the fact is, if you aren't making people toxic, the enemy is more likely to have it. As I said, if player behavior really is what's keeping your rank down,

I have read some other posts. It seems like the disciplinary team for inters might be understaffed or just don't care. Someone sent proof that an ally was trolling. Even after months the troll wasn't banned. Another person tested soft inting and has gotten away with it. The more prevalent form of disciplinary action seems to come from oversensitive bots. So as things stand the most practical choice is to suck it up or quit.

Unfortunately trolling/griefing is really hard to detect automatically without false positives. More human monitoring would certainly help, but at the end of the day Riot are a business and most likely look at it as cost vs benefit (to them, not to us).
