Maybe the ban hammer comes down a little TOO hard?

So riot. Recently, I have had to leave 2 games (both of which, the reasons couldn't be avoided, i.e. surprise family reunion or hospitalized dog), which were a few games apart. This'll be ok, I told myself, the ban can't be THAT bad, I told myself. Oh how the ban hammer smote me down! I got a 20 ban for 10 games in response to me leaving 2 games! 2! In my opinion, you guys should be a teensy bit more lenient when it comes to banning. As for ranked, I can totally understand the whole "ruling with an iron fist" thing, but I was playing normal. I get that you want it to be fun experience, and leaving the game/afk'ing can ruin the game for a team, but I think that, as of now, the bans are a little extreme. Not everyone allocates a certain amount of time in their day to play league. I'd like to sit down and just play a quick game, but I have a life outside of league, and things happen. I don't want to be punished for living it. :)

Meanwhile, 2-3 of your teammates probably tilted while the others decided to tryhard and wait for you to come back. This led to a nonstop flame fest in chat when the tryhards held the others hostage for an extra 10-20 minutes past the 20 minute point where they should have forfeited. So a few extra people got upset and banned all because you were too irresponsible to budget your time prior to queueing.

This is pretty much how it goes down in every 4v5 or even 3v5 I've been stuck in. In my book all punishments that your teammates received while being a man short should be reflectively applied on you.

The fact that you have the 20 minute punishment means that you have a history with the Leaverbuster system, as that is not the first punishment given out. You have left a lot of games in the past and have already received a few Leaverbuster punishments. So, while these two leaves may have triggered the current punishment, the fact that it's a 20 minute punishment is because of these two leaves on top of all the other games you left in the past.

Everyone would like to sit down and play a game of league. When one person walks away from a game(for w/e reason) that is taken away from 9 people.

Its hard to tell exactly what you got punished with but it sounds like 20 min low priority queue. That isn't an occasional leaving issue. That is chronic leaver status.

I understand you don't want league to get in the way of your life, but it is an activity that requires you to dedicate a block of time to in order to play. It just does. If they stopped punishing people in your situation you wouldn't be able to sit down and play when you want to because those games would be constantly ruined by someone else leaving.
