What does Chat restrict do?

I got questions because i have no clue how "Survey" works or how riot get the conclusions they get with the punishment system. Being banned , chat restricted and honor level 3 before. I think i got a taste of everything on both sides of being positive/negative. Being as im not as "toxic" as before (being that i got 7 accounts perma banned a few years ago) now only chat restrictions for the time being. From what i use to say and be like, i dont understand chat restrictions, i guess over the years riot has got more into being a cuddle buddy to insecure people. Iv actually been chat restricted recently and lost level 3 honor to asking for reports of troll running it down "mid" but it was bot lane, and i actually just had a game where a thresh went afk in a bush for 20-25 minutes until the game ended because adc neeko ^.^.. that was fun fun.

Now to these questions im obviously going to answer them in my own personal experience and ideas. Anyone has them and can express them so.

1st question: What Does chat restrict actually do beside LIMIT CHAT for certain amount of games?

Answer: So it obviously leads to a ban if the person keeps being "toxic" , but then again if they got punished for being "toxic" shouldnt they be prevented from being ABLE to be "toxic" again. On the other hand, getting chat restricted or banned does not stop people from playing the game, but it just makes them more mad. Most the time people are not "toxic" out of the thin blue sky, obviously some situations are minor and not that bad for someone to flame or be "toxic" , but usually someone is trolling/feeding or trying to instigate someone to flame. 100% of the time this is the case. (excluding john doe getting mad at someone for dying once)

2nd question: Why do we have chat we can type in?

Answer: This only leads to people typing in chat and flaming or being toxic because if you have pings there is no need for chat, you dont need to tell someone your ganking or coming, you dont need to tell anyone for assistance, or vision and even to back off.. correct? because pings accomplish all of that, so chat is just a free ticket for riot to Make people level 1 honor so less rewards of the "free loot" system they put out.

3rd question: Why are the minor things that are NOT NEGATIVE NOR POSITIVE "toxic" and can get you chat restricted?

Answer: So as for this , that goes for my PERSONAL EXPERIENCE of what a riot employee has told me the reason for my chat restricts.. are "Asking for reports regardless of what the person has done as follow: Afk, Feed/troll,Verbal abuse etc." Also Saying "Stop feeding, stop flaming , play better" more on the "stop feeding,play better" are apparently "toxic". back in the day i use to say the ky-symbol- you suck, your bad, your trash, no one likes you, and offensive mom jokes. Which i find those 100% toxic, and reportable and punishable, but just saying "play better" and or "stop feeding" should not be a reportable or toxic offence which i was told by a riot employee.

I understand some people have different viewers and stuff, i talked to someone who thinks if you are not 100% positive in whatever you say, then you are toxic.. so i know people out there are like that. If you have the option to mute pings and chat, what is the point of it, it causes more problems then anything else in league.

--Edit-- People down vote because they cant handle a good conversation or have a open mind, which is fine, probably the same people who dislike videos for fun, weird how even a good promotional video of something positive gets dislikes on youtube.. cough cough same people who down vote open conversations. ^.^

just saying "play better" and or "stop feeding" should not be a reportable or toxic offence which i was told by a riot employee.

So I'll answer this one. True neutral texts are not punishable.

Asking for reports alone is not a punishable offense, but when used in the form of harassment and wanting to get someone's account banned, that's when it's punishable.

  • Report ahri no skin
  • fun, laughable, light banter - not punishable
  • Report this troll Neeko ADC
  • Attempts to get someone banned - harassment and punishable

Most the time, there isn't a good reason to ask for reports. The system only needs 1 report to trigger the automated system for a review and more reports don't change the result of that review nor does it get people punished any faster. Report count only matters in manual reviews, and report count is not the only thing they take in account when reviewing.

"Play better", "stop feeding" are just other ways to say "you suck", so it isn't a true neutral. If 5 was neutral, 1 is extremely negative and 10 was extremely positive, telling someone to play better or stop feeding is like .. 4.8.

If you wanted to provide constructive criticism, then teach them how to play better, like give them tips on CSing under tower or when to use the defensive shields to block majority of the damage, and not just the small part of the combo.

Stop flaming is neutral though.

Simple. It's your first two warnings. Simply a warning. Nothing more. Then if you don't heed the warning, Riot will force you to take a break on that account. If you don't learn from that break, Riot will then remove the account from the game.

4 Tiers. 2 Chat Warnings. 1 Break. 1 Removal.

Either way, i think the typing part of chat needs to be deleted.. no point in having it when you have pings that can tell someone what your doing.

edit- It would decrease "toxic" behavior by at least 90% (other 10% will probably run it down mid because they cant type) LOL

Ah yes, I love the pings “Jungler, if you want you can grab a few minions as a thank you for ganking me“ and “Nasus, push Top. We build up pressure mid - team don't fight!“. Just because Pings cover some basic calls/interactions does not mean the chat will be useless for other tactical discussions. Besides that: you can try raising the teamspirit there or have fun, crack some jokes.

Regarding your edit: I openly admit that I downvoted this thread - mostly because you argue the same way I have read so many times before by other punished people. No, player who dislike your in-game behaviour are not automatically “insecure people“ and the way of thinking that chat only serves for getting easier bans/CR or players being toxic/flaming tells me a lot about your experiences and point of view.

1 serves to punish players for breaking the rules in a light way so they know their behavior is below standards, and warns that future behavior like that will result in harsher punishments. if it makes someone more mad, thats a personal problem with them. A lot of people dont do well with authority. 2 because people like to communicate 3 theyre not, i believe they would be called neutral. Neutral comments will not get you punished unless youre spamming.
