Gold/Plat elo is the most cancerous thing I've ever seen :)

So first, I'll talk about how the elo is supposed to be: the gold/plat elo was, many years ago, a place between silver and diamond where you could've train to be a better player, where you could've learn about how to play properly, how to be nice with your teammates... AND NOW, THIS IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I've been playing in Gold for a while now and in plat only for a few months but I swear I've never seen a community going THAT BAD in toxicity and unsportsmanlike conduct. I can play every role of this game and I'm not bad at least on all of them, BUT, every game that I've been playing for the last two or three weeks were just a concentrate of toxics people that just intentionally fed the enemies or just flaming hard because the toplane can't wait the jungler to fight, people the botlane can't wait too and the midlaner gets ganked by two different guys due to the advantage given by the other lanes. To resume a bit everything, every game, as a jungler, I can't even take my lvl 3 that 2 or 3 of my allies are dying and spam pinging me, the jungler that is apparently supposed to be fucking everywhere on the map. I'm pretty tired of this community and of how Riot seems not to care about the community and how insanely bad it's going. I'm reporting every toxic one for many weeks now, some of them did serious intentional feeding and I've got NO FEEDBACK, NO ONE OF THEM HAS BEEN BANNED OR PUNISHED... BUT! If you say a bad word, Riot will ban you for your entire life and further, because It's not cool :/

This topic is supposed to explain how the community is becoming insanely toxic, I hope someone from Riot will see this post and maybe react a bit. I'll not talk about the anti-community like anti-french because some of them deserve it, not all of them, but 70% of them completely deserve it. I'll finally end this way-too-long-post by saying that I've been toxic many years ago and I don't really like how people that ruined many games by inting can't be banned and how other people can be banned just by saying bad words by tilting hard because of these run-down-people.

Its quite interesting you mentioned this, as i've recently had a number of games with passive aggressive players trying to tell me how to play the game. It's interesting, because I understand their points, but they still manage to be a condescending d-head at the same time.

For example, I'm playing Zac, just having a chill game, not looking to push boundaries or anything. Bearing in mind jungle is my least played role, and this is most definitely not ranked. I'm getting constantly abused by the Rakan in chat, who's constantly complaining about the enemy jungle Pyke camping bot lane. Now most of the time I looked bot, I didn't see much farming under tower, the Xayah was pushing lane advantage against the Kog'maw but then the two of them were obviously being caught out multiple times by ganks.

After the game, I see the flame is coming from a Plat 1 Marksman main. Let me repeat that, a PLAT ONE ADC MAIN who didn't see any fault in his Xayah pushing like crazy when having massive issues dealing with ganks. I'm a SILVER TWO mid lane main completely out of my element, and yet I could see more than the Rakan could when looking at the state of bot lane.

I hate the "I'm a higher rank than you so git gud scrub" mentality. I can only imagine what full plat/gold games are like. It's ok to be pissed off, but don't take that out on other people. In my own ranked games I find myself deleting what I'm about to type in chat because of how easy it is to tilt teammates, who knows how these people think they can climb by being so toxic.

Sometimes they aren't inting, they just bad. If those are people you are reporting, you'll never get a punishment notification as being bad isn't a punishable offense.

There's three rules in League for player mentality:

  1. I am always right and know more than anyone else
  2. Everyone else is stupid and knows nothing
  3. Everything remotely connected to my loss is someone else's fault (player, lag, Riot, broken champion, etc)

I made those rules shortly after I joined back in... I wanna say season 2 or 3... and they still have not changed so far as I'm concerned. That is how the average League player acts- or at least the average LOUD League player.

I know better:

  1. I'm not always right and I should certainly hope others are around my threshold of knowledge considering how casually I play this game.
  2. Nobody is stupid and doesn't understand the game (theoretically). However if there is indeed something they don't understand, I can comment and non-toxically help them. "Pyke gets a reset for his ult, if you're both low split up."
  3. And I certainly can admit sometimes I have cost my team a win. Typically it's a combination factor but there is not one single player that can say with complete truth that they've never been the deciding factor in their team's loss.

I have heard about the toxicity levels in Gold and Plat.

I am struggling through silver and have been mostly lucky. But every three games or so I do get people who become tilted easily and give up.

I have been tilted in the past as well, frustration builds up and I have unfortunately been given punishments as a result. But I still consider myself reformed now. I no longer respond AT ALL to ANY negativity and am much more apt to use the mute button the instant someone says anything slightly negative.

Remember that you are only responsible for your own chat and behavior. Let the rest go. I force myself to take breaks when I feel the anger building.

"Before you speak, let your words pass through three gates.

At the first gate, ask yourself, 'Is it true?'

At the second gate, ask yourself, 'Is it necessary?'

At the third gate, ask, 'Is it kind?' "

Really? Idk ab Plat, but Gold seems to be the least toxic league so far. Bronze everyone is raging but doesn't know what they're doing. They're like mad, just to be mad, and they don't know what for. Silver a lot of people seem to think their team is holding them back and KDA is everything. Nothing there matters but KDA, and grouping Mid for a push. Lotta salt there.

Gold on the other hand, I've had some toxic folks of course, but for the most part it really doesn't seem that bad comparatively. The only thing I can think of that seems to hold true for all 3 leagues I've been in so far is that Yasuo feeds more often than not.

About the point of your post:

  1. Nice description of D5 you got there :^)
  2. Riot can't really do much about people inting or playing bad unfortunately. It's not easy to detect if it isn't obvious enough I guess. They can barely do more for people who flame in chat. It's been like that for a while, and while Rioters play the game too, I don't think they can change the game so quickly, seeing how they have been seemingly incapable of doing anything related

About other things I noticed:

I can't even take my lvl 3 that 2 or 3 of my allies are dying and spam pinging me

There are some junglers that have pretty good level 2 ganks. They take red then just go mid or the closest side lane, then they can fall back on a scuttle crab if all goes wrong, and can counterinvade the side of the jungle they are on if the enemy jungler invaded your jungle as a reaction. Camille, Jarvan 4, Xin Zhao and Graves come to mind. Ezreal used to do this all the time, and apparently every non-Shaco player on Reddit said Shaco can too even though his Q is ass at level 1 and at best removes 1 flash from mid lane every time I try. There are plenty of other junglers who can (situationally) do this as well. TLDR: consider trying level 2 ganks. Then the opponents can spam ping their junglers instead :^)

the community is becoming insanely toxic

Gaming communities usually are, and this one hasn't been an exception. From my experience, games only become toxic in D5 MMR ranked games, but everywhere else was pretty mellow with the exception of a few players. I guess that could be the difference between our servers. I'm pretty sure this one hasn't changed at all over the 5 years I played the game

The reason people are so toxic is because the ranked system is garbage, there is a HUGE gap between silver and gold, in my experience, there are better players in silver than there are in gold. In silver I would completely dominate jungle, I still do in gold but one lane always feeds, tilts, then continues to be toxic after completely failing the lane, that rarely happened in silver.

They need to fix ranked or be quicker about banning toxic individuals, because its really bad in gold.

Gold's great - People know they aren't that good and try their best most of the time.

Plat is where everyone thinks they can hit diamond by one tricking yasuo/riven/GP/zed and have special needs. It gets worse from there onward as well..

hoo doggy this is great news for me now that ive finally hit gold! cant wait.

I'm into promos for Gold, and I was instantly greeted by a Gragas who fed and then dc'd, and a Tryndamere on the enemy team who went support, afk'd but made sure to walk to lane, inted, and had their Rengar afk that same game.

As a multi season gold player myself (which I realize doesn't mean much, but at least I made it), I never really tell anyone what to do unless it's specific like, "infernal is coming up, please ward."

Often times it's easier just to ping my ward twice to give them the idea. The thing that irritates me the most is people who feel like they have to narrate and point out every time you make a mistake. The ones who will question mark ping you repeatedly, tell you how bad you are after a close duel ends badly and the opponent survives on 20 hp, etc.

They are in like every game now. I find myself muting everyone a LOT. I am not a toxic person, if anything I don't even like to chat much in games except for an occasional GJ or TY. It's just getting really out of control.
