I do not think this warrants a chat ban. Actually the whole concept of a chat ban is fucked because a mute feature exists. This game is going downhill. I really like the idea of the game but in reality it's just infuriating. I got trolled all game but I'm the one who has to suffer for the next 25 games... that's just not right. This community is far too sensitive for competitive gaming.

If the game is getting on your nerves, you are free to leave it.

Better contribute to that downhill yourself so the game dies faster.

Next step is a 14 day and then perma.

You lose your shit on an online, FTP game, with a bunch of people you don't know and will never meet... but everyone else is a snowflake? You like the game, but not the people, yet you don't mute all at the start?

Are you sure it is everyone else that's a snowflake?

TrikzterzArma7/27/2019, 10:39:00 PM3 votes

Just behave. It isn't that hard.

KFCeytron7/27/2019, 10:19:07 PM3 votes

If your teammates had muted you at the first sign of your misbehavior, that would've minimized their exposure to it. However, the only people who wouldn't even see that first sign are those who /mute all at the start of every game. Everyone else would get that initial taste of your toxicity. The rules are intended to make chat positive and useful. If your presence means that anyone making the slightest effort to communicate in a team game has to deal with the sort of chat messages you've displayed here, that's on you, not on them. Behave yourself.

Your opinion of the rules is of zero relevance. When a cop stops you for going 40 in a 25 zone, you can claim "I think the limit should be 45 here" all you want. You're still getting a ticket. If a librarian asks you to keep your voice down while you use the facilities, shouting that libraries should be loud will simply get you escorted out. If you go to a friend's house who insists that you remove your shoes while you're in their home, "that's a stupid rule and I do what I want" will lose you a friend. If you are using someone else's services, facilities, equipment, etc., you abide by their rules or you deal with the consequences. If you think the rules should change, that is a completely different conversation (and I wouldn't give a plugged nickel for your chances at convincing Riot to change their rules to allow behavior like yours).

From Riot's support knowledgebase:

We work with the overall community and within our own company guidelines to identify what disruptive behavior is and what the consequences for those behaviors should be. We understand that it can be difficult to know where the line is, which is why we provide chat logs and we have a few tiers in the ban process in order to allow for you to learn and grow.

You weren't punished for misbehaving in one game. You were punished for misbehaving in one more game, in a consistent pattern of negative behavior that breaks the game's rules. Additionally, the reform card doesn't always show all the logs that led to your punishment: it randomly selects up to several logs. You might see three logs, but you also might see as few as one, even for players whose punishment stems not from a small number of egregious infractions but rather from dozens of instances of mild toxicity. The purpose of the reform card is to tell you how to reform, so it shows you an example of the behavior that prompted your punishment and explains that such behavior is inappropriate and should be avoided if you want to maintain an account in good standing.

Your chat does warrant a chat-ban. But I do agree with your assessment of the community

AlphaM Gaymer7/27/2019, 10:28:32 PM2 votes

Nah, it's been real man. Most people are super legit and take personal agency. It's a good community, just like broodwar in the old days.

If you don't be a snowflake yoself then we straight and is just and that SIMPLE /thred

To be fair, you did kinda make an ass of yourself the whole game, I prolly woulda reported you too.

But that might not be what your post is about here...

literally can't say anything without someone getting all butthurt and trying to phish for reports, trolling, or further tilting, etc.

I got trolled all game but I'm the one who has to suffer for the next 25 games... that's just not right.

Now I don't phish for reports, troll or tilt (much) in any scenario but if someone else does it all you need to do is report them for it instead of going off in chat and getting reported. Your not suffering for getting trolled, your suffering for your lack of control when it comes to typing.

As for the rest, you gotta remember your playing an online game with 9 other random people, if you go off in chat people are going to take offense and report you or whatever it is they gunna do, why take that risk? The mute button doesn't exist to give you an out for typing in chat. Look around, every community is far too sensitive as far as I can tell, maybe human beings are just sensitive, you should prolly adjust for it.

tbh idk what i expected from this community. ofc you all would think that this is "bad" this chat was not warranting any kind of action. Honestly it's just as much Riot's fault for enabling this.

Some of them are snowflakes not all, don't like generalizing

Dorans Pants7/28/2019, 3:41:07 AM1 votes

I see worse in a lot of my games.

And with zero-tolerance rules in place where one word can get you punished the mute feature is ultimately pointless, especially since most players are way more interested in reporting others than anything else and since we are also constantly pushing the envelope when it comes to what constitutes unacceptable behaviour I find it unwise to give so much power to such an inept automated system.

ModPrandine7/28/2019, 9:24:44 AM1 votes

Honestly you were pretty antagonistic all game long and that bad attitude continued into the post game. While you did have some lines dedicated to specific champs like pyke ults and champ kits most of the time it was you being antagonistic towards your allies.

If they were intentionally misbehaving then all you did was encourage them to continue on. Yes AFKs and other problematic behavior is annoying and frustrating at times but stooping down to their level solves nothing and only makes the situation and environment worse than it already is. Furthermore just because someone else is acting up doesn't mean your own poor behavior is ignored. As for your other complaints:

  1. The mute button =/= a get out of jail free card and is meant to be a band-aid solution at most.
  2. Freedom of speech =/= freedom of speech consequences and doesn't apply to privately owned entities such as Riot Games.
  3. Who's really the sensitive ones here: The ones who don't like being held accountable for their behavior or the ones who won't put up with other peoples poor behavior and holds them accountable for it?

With all that in mind your chat restriction (not a ban a restriction) is deserved, and considering you had a 10-game CR before this you should already have a good idea of what behavior is considered unacceptable. I would recommend you take this as a learning experience and work on improving your attitude rather than looking for other people to blame for it, otherwise a 14-day ban may just happen to you.

You need to find a single player game to play. For me it's XCOM 2. Others like the Witcher series.

The contrast of not having to rely on teammates to achieve the goals you want is like taking your brain to the Bahamas for a week.

GatekeeperTDS7/27/2019, 10:29:25 PM1 votes

You aren't in competition with your own team.

ModRowanstar7/28/2019, 4:07:00 PM1 votes

No generalizations. Also you think we are snowflakes because you got a chat ban? On the grand scale of things that is so minor and diminutive that really just deal with it.
