Ban Guidance?

Recently I got an unexpected 14-day ban due to behavior was described as offensive. Referring to chat logs provided, I found chat logs from games in which, in one scenario, I was responding to a lane opponent who literally said "kill yourself lol" and still refrained from adult language that whole game, and another game where the lane opponent and jungler were constantly taunting and harassing me with vulgar language and I ended up muting them anyways (in both cases I reported their actions and received no words of disciplinary action taken on them, go figure). In the third game provided I didn't even say anything that could possibly come off as an attacking tone, as I only repeated what the lane opponent said to me after killing me, "ez", "2 ez", and "haha lul". I have received chat restrictions in the past so have tried to improve my in game interaction with other players by either praising good plays and games or just muting people if they get too "annoying" for lack of a better word. Does the fact that I have received chat restrictions before make it easier for me to get larger punishments more easily despite the fact that I have more games with progressively positive attitudes? This ban was right before I was going to get to promos too...

u were toxic and therefore banned, after 14 days u can reform or choose to get perma banned (the next offense). It will take u roughly 3 months to reform and drop a punishment tier.

I'm jelous u got chat logs, riot never sent me those or an email.

Punishments for chat related behavior are served on a four tier system, which goes as follows:

  • 10 Game Chat Restriction
  • 25 Game Chat Restriction
  • 14 Day Suspension
  • Permanent Suspension

You start at the first chat restriction, then build up toward permanent suspension each time you are punished. This does mean that your next punishment is going to be a permanent suspension. Severity of behavior is irrelevant for which punishment you receive, except in extreme cases (hate speech, death threats, etc.) where punishment tiers can be skipped. You can drop in tier over time if you stop showing signs of negative behavior though.

It's important to remember that context of the situation usually isn't a consideration. Just because something you say might be fun and games to certain players, that doesn't mean it's the same for everyone. If the system finds something that it thinks is negative behavior, it will be counted against you.
