League of Legends and it's toxic player base

Alright so I'm not much to post on the forums but this game is just as toxic, if not more than it was when I started playing originally. I've been around since season 2 and used to talk a LOT of shit. Now I have grown up, I'm no longer an edgy teen, and this game's report system is beyond automated garbage. I have just recently received a 14 day suspension in the following case. First off it's ARAM and I got Singed. I'm doing my best to do anything at all because singed clearly isnt the best champion for ARAM. Out of nowhere I start getting flamed for doing poorly as well as others on the team. The same person continues to tell us they're going AFK on us so I said we don't need him anyway. Full force he starts attacking me over team chat so I called him an Eff A Gee. I guess that was where I went wrong because if you say something like that you're going to be insta-banned.

My point on this is there shouldn't be an automated system for something like this where dickface on your team who says AFK and starts harassing your teammates in a game mode that was designed to not be competitive in the first place. The report system is a joke and trolls who catch you saying one offensive word can use it against you even though clearly nobody was offended by anything in the chat. If you're offended by LoL chat by now lets face it you shouldn't be playing the game anyway. I just find it so silly that this report system can be abused by trolls who study the rules because they've been banned for being toxic in the past and still haven't changed their behavior. I've lost 2 accounts when I talked a lot of shit but I guess in the future the only way to not get auto-banned will just to /mute all.

Concluding thoughts on this are if I have to /mute all just to play the game without the urge to reply to trolls and never talk strategy with matchmade games, then I'm done with League of Legends. The community is still as shitty as ever. I returned (last played in season 5) for preseason 8 and am already very disappointed with where the game is in terms of the report system. It has only taken several steps back from what it used to be.

I'm going to include the game from which I am talking about below. I wish I could have included the instigators chat log as well but it turns out they even nerfed report chat logs.

I am aware that calling someone a bundle of sticks is what got me my 14 day, so if I were to replace that with C U next Tuesday, would I have been in the clear? I am open to suggestions.

The use of hate speech is what caused the escalation to a 2-week ban (zero-tolerance policy for that), but even if we ignore the hate speech you still spend the entire game verbally abusing and harassing other players. Being frustrated is one thing, taking it out on others is another. Even if other people are behaving poorly that doesn't mean you can join in on it as well and get away with it. The "they started it" excuse didn't work in school and it doesn't work here. Everyone is responsible for their own behavior, and if you reported them and they have a history of poor behavior then they'll get punished just like you were here. In the future if someone is behaving poorly in chat then just mute, report and move on rather than retaliate back at them (and thus giving them the negative reaction they wanted out of you).

Also, I wasn't harassing anybody in this game. If full chat logs were available you would be able to clearly tell that I was on the receiving end of things the entire game.

Yes I did as I felt it was appropriate for this topic as well. As for not harassing anybody I disagree as the first half of your logs is you insulting and name-calling other people with the second half containing passive-aggressive comments designed to tick people off, and since both the first and third lines contain a censored word that can only mean you used hate speech or a racial slur, both of which are subject to a zero-tolerance policy escalation to a 2-week ban first punishment. Even if other people were harassing you that still doesn't give your own poor behavior a free pass. Next time instead of engaging in the rage-fest just mute (so you can focus on your game), report (so that they can get punished if that behavior's normal for them) and move on (so you can concentrate on other games).

And this is why Riot’s rules are 100% cancer. If you can’t handle someone being passive aggressive to ward off dickheads then this report system is more of a bad meme-joke then all the people saying kys in game. This baby ass childish game and the supporting feminists like you Prandine are worse than the trolls in game because you enforce such stupid rules. If I intentionally feed or troll my games I won’t get punished half as bad than if I swear at someone. So I guess if someone starts harassing me I can just throw the game and make it worse for the whole team and ruin the community even more AND still be safe from the backwards report system.

This just goes to show you know absolutely nothing of what you are talking about. First off if you think these "rules" are cancerous you are going to have a hard time handling the real world as most of these rules can be applied to basically every single work place, or place in general. See how fast you get kicked out (banned), or fired (if you work there) by using that same language you have in this game.

Its pretty funny when people like you use words like childish, or feminist when none of that even applies to these things you are even talking about. If anything its quite the opposite. Its childish to throw a tantrum like you are doing especially over a damn video game. Its quite sad really. Not even going to comment on the feminist because i dont even know why you used it in the first place!

As for trolling, the fact that its harder to find doesnt mean its ok for you to do! I mean by all means do it, you really arent hurting anyone because you will be caught and when you do youll get hit harder than people abusing their chat since trolling is an automatic 14 day ban, but since you are already on that, youll get a permaban and rightly so!

You assume the only people communicate with in the workplace is just your other coworkers. Even then there are some places that will hire just about anyone, there will always be poor types of employees, people who dont do the work, these would be consider feeders/trolls/toxic people when compared to this game.

This is what i dont understand by your logic its just a game, so why take it that serious that you need to use language like that? I use Video games as a means to relax and unwind. Not be some type of babysitter because people like you need to use language like that. If anything you are the little kid in this Scenario. Heck all these replies im reading just further proves that point! Whose the one throwing a hissy fit because they cant use curse words and harass other people? Whose crying on the forums?

Let me ask you this: What good will being passive-aggressive to someone accomplish? The correct answer is nothing, and the only thing you're warding off is possible good communication by behaving the way you did in your reform card.

The rules that Riot uses here are the same ones that apply to almost all things in real life. Take a restaurant for example: if you and someone else start fighting with each other (physically or verbally it doesn't matter) and refuse to stop then management is just gonna throw you both out regardless of who started it. Why? Because both of you are being rude and disrespectful to the other guests present there and the restaurant doesn't want your business if all you want to do is argue and fight with other people. If being childish to you means expecting people to act like mature and respectful people while punishing them if they don't or won't then so be it, feel free to find another game with more lenient rules than this one has.

Yeah no, that's not how it works. Though it takes longer to detect gameplay trolling still results in a 2-week or permanent ban when caught. In case you don't believe me on this point here are two examples of gameplay trolls being banned. Yes it's just two examples, but it proves that they do get punished.

P.S. I would refrain from using insults and attacks in your posts in the future, as if you can't make a point without resorting to such then your point wasn't really that valid or important to begin with to be honest with you there.

You're right, this is a video game, so if anyone needs to grow up it's you for expecting to not be held accountable for your poor behavior online (and in a video game no less), as lest we forget you're also interacting with REAL people here too like you do in real life. The shield of anonymity is slowly being phased out as more and more companies are holding their customers and employees accountable for what they do online, both good and bad-in other words treating people like adults. Look at people such as IWDominate and Jensen: both are professional LoL players who have received permanent account bans for poor in-game behavior, and that also prevented them from being able to play professionally as well. Both later were allowed to play again but only after they proved that they had reformed and cleaned up their acts, but neither one of them got their banned accounts back.

The comparison to the workspace here is accurate, because if you behave and act at work like you do here then you can bet your butt that you will be reprimanded if not fired. Just because this is a video game doesn't mean that manners and common sense should automatically go out the window. That is how children act: when they can't get their way they whine and throw a temper tantrum. Mature adults are able and willing to take responsibility for their actions and behavior while immature kids aren't, and just which of those would you say the behavior shown in your Reform Card and here in this thread falls under exactly? If you don't like how the rules are here then feel free to find another game that has less strict rules regarding player behavior.

I guess in the future instead of being passive aggressive in chat, I'll just ruin the game for everyone by semi afkiing the game. that way I'm not being toxic to the trolls that you protect AND I can still piss them off. I'll be the winner in that situation every time. Now can you compare that to my workplace? No dude. It's a video game.

Not only that but Leaverbuster can detect when someone is trying to avoid it and will punish for that kind of behavior as well.

I understand games can be frustrating, especially with a troll, but the reason you got the 2 week ban was probably due to hate speech. You also said someone was "cancer" which is also toxic. Even if you were on the receiving end, replying with toxic or passive comments is generally forbidden due to riot's rule. I won't say that I'm 100% innocent of doing this at times but either mute the people who are being toxic to you or try not to reply with negativity. Also, what do you mean by "C U next Tuesday" and "a bundle of sticks"? If you are referring to the hate speech you used at the beginning of the chat logs, it would have probably been better but there is a lot of negativity from what the chat log says.

I'll never understand the excuse of: they were toxic to me so I am supposedly allowed to be a jerk and not get punished.

Some people need to act more mature, just report after the game.

If I can't be verbally offensive then boo too I'll throw the game. Get caught and complain on the boards. Not much sympathy from me for actions (retaliation).
