Am I the only one experiencing a cancerous S6?

As with last year, we came into this season with some very significant shifts in the state of the game, and to go along with that there's been another hard reset. Yes, it's a bit frustrating to be dropped an entire division on a 7-3 record, but that's not really the issue here. Over the course of the past two weeks, I've been experiencing an unprecedented level of toxicity in games, both ranked and normal. I am aware that "most" of the player-base is perfectly civil, but for whatever reason I haven't been interacting with that "most" all that much. Instead, I get matched with people who are condescending and snarky, uncooperative, and regularly flame me and the rest of the team. Yes, I know there's a mute button, but unfortunately muting team-mates also makes it difficult to try and co-ordinate fights or setups in a very close game, so using it tends to cripple your ability to work as a team and make a hard game unwinnable. This really oughtn't be the case, and while I know the report system is working, and I've seen evidence of this, I'm still a bit confused as to why people are so regularly cancerous and rude without any repercussions, and why I continue to be matched with them game after game.
