Terminating Old Accounts...

I play League of Legends a lot and I've gotten sort of bored with my name. I wanted the username Gum so I searched for a summoner to see if it already existed. Of course it did, but I dug a little further. This person has not played in years and has no champion mastery or rank. I think Riot should start terminating accounts like this so the usernames of said accounts can be used by more active players.

The accounts aren't terminated but there already is a schedule for when the names of unused accounts become available again.

well, if you play NO games riot gives you 6 months inactive name protection then another month for every level above 6 the acct is..... thats about 2.5 years for a lv 30 account.... this account has last played a game in jan according to: http://www.lolking.net/summoner/na/19793958#profile

that means you wont be getting this name anytime soon

check it yourself:

oh and to add on to all that... you have to pay for the new name if the name was used before, and you have to specifically request it

If its truly been years since it has been used it would have been deleted by now. You only get a max on 1 month per account level with a minimum time of 6 months since your last game played before your account is deleted.

Their last game was 8 months ago.

That means their account will not be deleted until June 2018 at the earliest.
