Report System Needs Reworking!

Okay so I just played a game with a tahm kench top. he started playing sloppy and for whatever reason decided to take it out on his teammates. I guess for whatever reason he was mad that we had better scores than he did?? shrugs

He tried to eat me a few times and spit me under enemy towers. unfortunately for him I was cho'gath and was much too tanky to die to these tactics. however then he proceeded to doing it to our mid (talon) since he had failed to get me killed Multiple times.. Now on top of this he told me to **** off and whatever else he might have said (muted him after multiple attacks) now here's the kicker. he's playing with 2 other s and they all reported me and I get a chat restriction. xDXDXD uhm???????? you serious riot?? so I get attacked and attempted griefing and i get reported and it goes through?? does anyone even look into theses cases ? lol

Anyways just thought id bring this up. in my opinion this needs to be looked into. people are being allowed to grief and then report their teammates. apparently i threw the game because i was being eaten and not "doing anything" LOL... SMH please riot do something about these trolls and this inefficient reporting system.. thanks.

I'm confused. does riot actually condone trolling/ griefing or is it the point of the game these days? if so ive been playing wrong this whole time. who knew shrugs

Don't put the names on the boards, its actually against the rules.

If you didn't report at the end of the game you can do so here.

Actually that was towards riot staff. i dont have the full chat logs..

with that said i think im going to start recording each game from now on. cause i dont think riot is going to bother looking into it but maybe if i make clips they might take the time to look at those.. shrugs

Well, no. You wouldn't, because their actions and words have no bearing on whether or not your actions and words are actionable. On the upside, though, that means that the only thing needed to demonstrate your innocence is the logs you were sent.

Actually I did report, but I got reported 3x to my 1 since they were all friends and obviously are going to stick together. Which is why i brought this up. im being penalized because 3 fools thought it was fun to grief their team mates.
What i'd like to know is why people are being allowed to troll and the people who get trolled get punished? that logic..

I'm being eaten by a tahm kench and spit under enemy towers of course his butt buddies defend him for it too. calling it fun. but they arent playing the game how its meant to be played (which riot thinks is fine) but me calling him out for it nets me a 10 game chat restriction.. It all started when i told varus (the adc) that he shouldnt use his q so much and auto attack more often which prompted the tahm to tell me to **** off and thats where it all began.

On a side note, I never used profanity but it was used towards me and I get penalized? wtf?

And here in lies the problem.. "[12:34AM] ********: not at all 3v1 man goodluck getting it dealth with"

they even being cocky about it now cause they know riot isnt going to do anything about it and so its just going to keep on breeding more toxicity. I dont know if this is what riot wants so they can ban the people that actually care about the game and will spend money? if thats the case then I'll just avoid dumping any more money into this game and save myself the headache.

Also if you cant beat em might as well join em! right? so i should just troll my games too right? like killing my teammates cause that fun! right? riot? is this what you want?

-EDIT- I dont actually plan on doing that cause i dont find that fun at all. just trying to make a point. dont get the wrong idea..

it doesn't matter if it was a 3v1 report, 1 report is good enough the flag the account for future punishments. The rest of the reports count as statistics to riot's system. So don't worry too much about the "premades ganging up to report on you" myth.

that being said, even if I wasn't a friend of kenchs, I probably would have reported you as well just due to how you reacted. Of course kench will be reported as well, I play Kench I and can tell when hes trolling. If I was on the enemy team, I'll report Kench and you if the "report this 8-yr old" was all you said in /allchat, as I expect you to say similar things in other games.

So you can only control your reactions, words and actions, if you troll, you'll get reported. You can choose words that are clearly showing your frustration, but won't get your banned.

Well actually it sort of does matter.. My point is that im being punished meanwhile they're off trolling the next victims. I'm being cursed at and flammed by 3 people ( they're in trio-queue together) Not to mention the chat logs ive been given looks sort of ridiculous since its missing all what they've said and looks as though i'm talking to myself.. anyway here's the logs ive been provided.

Their punishments - or lack thereof, whichever the case may be - have nothing to do with your punishment. By the same token, their logs aren't relevant to your punishment - just as your logs aren't relevant to theirs.

There's two things I want to note here. First, here's some snippets from your logs that probably related strongly to your chat restriction:

Insulting your teammates - regardless of their actions or words - is never considered acceptable. Also, terms like "tard" are really heavily frowned on, so it's in your best interest to avoid them.

Secondly, I wanted to mention some of the intricacies of the system with you. Of particular note, the difference between how verbal and non-verbal toxicity are addressed.

Verbal toxicity is significantly easier to detect than non-verbal, and is therefore more quickly addressed. However, with only a few exceptions (such as hate speech and death threats), it's considered to be less extreme, and consequently receives relatively mild punishments.

To put that another way, verbal toxicity is detected faster, but starts lower on the punishment scale. Non-verbal toxicity takes a little longer to be recognized, but starts higher on the punishment scale. Speaking of that, the punishment scale looks like this:

  • 10-game chat restriction (this is the lowest punishment issued for verbal toxicity)
  • 25-game chat restriction
  • 14-day time ban (this is the lowest punishment issued for non-verbal toxicity)
  • perma-ban

also how is something like "troll team" worthy of punishment? it's what they were doing? i dont see what else I could of said otherwise?

"go play vs bots you trolls" they were trolling so i called them out for it. again i dont see how this is punishable. esp considering what was said to me.. lol.. this pales in comparison.

again my Own Team Mate is trying to kill me..

"prettysure im thereason were even doing anything in lane" my adc was verbally abusing me saying i was trash and whatnot and i responded by saying .. he kept wasting mana on q and saying "oom" and pulling back to turret which was my fault?

The thing that pisses me off about all of this is that most of the time my chat lines mostly is limited to gg at the end.

The funny thing is that riot claims to want to get rid of toxicity.. LOL.. what a joke! I'll just say this last thing. YOUR DOING IT ALL WRONG!!!!

There's nothing wrong with being frustrated or angry. Nothing punishable about it, either. It's how you handle that anger that can get you into trouble. Insulting your teammates (whether you're calling them a troll, or a noob, or a child) is never really helpful, and is punishable.

As I said, Riot recognizes that non-verbal toxicity, such as trolling, is more disruptive than verbal toxicity. That's why they punish it so harshly. But it still takes somewhat longer to recognize. It sucks, but it's necessary - they have to be sure that the behavior is both intentional and problematic.
