When did bans get so draconian?

OK yo you guys i just said the n word in chat in ONE game and got 14 day ban instantly without any chat restriction previously, you guys need to be a hell of a lot better about communicating your stupid harsh penalties. Seriously ridiculous, there is no such thing as hate speech anyway, words are words and are NOT violence, and you liberal snowflakes are ruining america. This is what the damn chat filter is for, turn it on if your feel feels are paper thin.

The system used to be nice and reasonable where it would go from a warning to 1 day then 3 days then 7, 14, 1 month, 3 month, 6 month, perma. That is way more fair and balanced like fox news. Now you just get exploded instantly with zero warning or anything, and now im seeing that the only 2 ban lengths are 14 days and perma? That's literally insane and i feel like i have to start a new smurf to get away from that possibility since people report for everything.

It's not stupid.

You used a slur that was used for hundreds of years to make people, mainly slaves, feel like they were lesser and worthless because of their skin color. While that's inappropriate in any situation, it's even more inappropriate in a game where you're playing with complete strangers.

Further, you're wrong about the ban system. It's always been 10 game chat restriction, 25 game chat restriction, 14 day ban, permanent ban. However, recently (within the past year), Riot has taken a hard line on hate speech, so slurs, homophobic/racist/ableist remarks, etc. can escalate you directly to a 14 day ban.

Please remember that the chat filter and mute button are tools for people to not have to see your toxicity. They are not an excuse for you being toxic. "Well, there's a smoke detector in the store, let me just set it on fire because I want to and there's a smoke detector so".

If people report for everything, perhaps dont use racial slurs or advocate self harm in chat? Maybe just mute all and dont type?

There are CERTAIN words which are not to be said, much like he who must not be named...

They aren't stopped by the filter.

Riot is doing a great job with the new system, I get popups multiple times per day now, including one game today in which I got 4 report popups in sequence.

Riot is a subsidiary of a publicly traded company, don't like their policy? Buy their parent corporation and change the rules! That's the American way, if you can't afford to do that then you can't afford to bitch about the rules.
