I'm an asshole but... is it bannable?

So yeah as my title suggests I don't deny being a prick. Most of my games I call out the players who I feel are resulting in us "potentially" or "actually" contributing to us losing the game. With this as my opening statement I feel in any multiplayer game in nature where your goal is to (win) the game, people get upset no matter the case.

There are lots of different types of people in this world, some who play games casually for fun, some who take the game seriously to win, and some who just want to see the world burn. I happen to place myself into the second category. Games are not fun to me unless I am winning, I think a lot of other players can agree with this statement. Nobody can honestly say they have fun losing. I'm sure some games can be fun and exciting but deep down inside everyone you want to win the game.

My whole point for this post is to express how winning in anything creates emotion in players. For instance if you are watching a professional basketball game or if you have ever played basketball at a competitive level or even just a pick-up game, you will notice there is shit-talk and banter that takes place on the court. Now lots of things can be said, some things vary in degree but almost everyone could agree that if a professional NBA player were to start talking shit to players on his team, and tell them they sucked and they needed to do certain things so that they had a better chance at winning nobody would find any issues with this.

I'm sure some might be offended at said things, but if one of these players were to be ejected from a game or not allowed to play for 2 weeks for saying anything I had said in my screenshot, I think there might possibly be an uproar from the community. I mean there were no racial slurs, vary few vulgar words, but overall everything I have said in my screenshot was based solely on the game and a certain player.

My whole point of this post is to argue this, we are not playing a professional sport. We are playing a video game online, with people we don't know, most of the time. Is it not naive and foolish to expect players to get along with everyone they come into contact with? Is it not foolish to expect to build a system based around punishing people for these experiences. And finally to restrict someone for being themselves, and expressing their own right to freedom of speech is this not against everything first world countries stand for?

I would argue that, to build a system solely against freedom of speech is not just un-american. It stands for everything that makes this world civilized and free. To restrict anyone for expressing themselves is communist in nature. And history has shown that anyone who tries to restrict and control is met with revolution and uprising. Any system based on control has one distinct characteristic. It rewards the overall majority who follow it's rules and regulations, and punishes the minority who speak against it.

In a nut-shell league of legends isn't just against the free-world, it promotes injustice, and stifles those who dare go against it.

I say to you out there who have been unfairly accused, you hold the power. And to those who follow the system and obey your masters. You are the slaves who keep the gears turning, slaves to a system that takes your money and punishes those who disobey it. Not only does the tribunal stand for oppression but anyone who stands with it. You stand for injustice, to punish those who wish to speak their minds is to punish everything that pushes humanity forward.

Imagine four people playing a board game at someone's house. Let's call them Carl, Lenny, Homer and Barney. It's Carl's house. Lenny suddenly start lashing out against the others insulting them. Carl then decides to throw Lenny out of his house. Lenny then argues that Carl is injust, unamerican and standing against free speech.

Undeniably, Lenny in this example is an idiot if there ever was one. Now replace Lenny with you, the board game with LoL, Homer and Barney with the people in your games and Carl with Riot.

tl;dr: Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom of consequences. It doesn't even mean you're free to say whatever you want wherever you want. It means only that the government can't censor you and that you have to generally be able to voice your opinion in some way.

Person acted like an ass, admits they know they acted like an ass, but still say they don't deserve punishment.

More at 11.

That screen is so beautiful. I'm very jealous of the new punished players.

We didn't used to get anything remotely resembling that...

So, you seriously think harassing teammates will make them magically play better? Do you truly believe that telling gankgplank he sucks, over and over again, will get you closer to winning the game?

Think back on games you've played. I'm sure there have been some where you didn't perform very well. Maybe you lost your lane, resulting in their hypercarry getting fed. Maybe you were the one who happened to get caught out of position and died 45 minutes into a game, allowing the other team to just roll into your base and finish the game. In these situations, I'm sure that you know that it's totally your fault. You screwed up. It happens. Do you really need allies harassing you in chat over your mistakes in order to realize you messed up?

If you truly wanted to do everything in your power to win the game, would it not make more sense to try to work with that Gankplank? Being a positive leader is going to give the whole team a much greater chance at coming back from a bad situation. There is nothing to be accomplished by telling somebody they suck.

You agreed to riots rules.

You broke the rules.

You get punished.

Really black and white. Being an ass hole ruins the experience for everyone that has to endure your immature and childish behavior.

There are other ways to vent your "emotions."

Scream into a pillow. Listen to music. Punt a baby. Shoot some guns.

None of these will get you banned. Learn to control your teenage angst and grow up. Good luck to you and hopefully you don't get perma'd, but I bet you will be back here with another complaint thread.

Most systems are flawed, but that's irrelevant.

You were a dick and you got served. Enjoy your ban.

I was just banned for a chat log from 4 weeks ago. Riot is really on point.

Totally, but hey, at least you recognized you're an asshole, it seems a step forward in the right direction at leas-...

Aaaand then I read the last two paragraphs about how we're slaves to the system and you were unfairly banned, nevermind.

It's against my freedom to enjoy the game. You don't need to be an asshole to enjoy the game.

If you can read those chat logs and think "gee, I did nothing wrong here and have been unfairly accused and judged for crimes I didn't commit" then....

I just have absolutely nothing I could possibly say to help you... except...

REALLLY????? ARE YOU KIDDING ME????
