RIOT PLZ, ban the bots

I just ran a aram with all max people in it. SEVEN of them were bots. Thats ridiculous. AND they were bots, I know I've reported SEVERAL times for botting, and my friends have reported the same people. I used to LOVE League. I'm really starting to get discouraged now though with the way you guys are handling (ahem, you AREN'T!) this whole situation. It was bad enough while leveling, but I thought when i maxxed, I wouldnt continue seeing game after game of bots. Its not even fun anymore and thats why I'll be playing Smite until y'all realize what kind of trash you are just turning a blind eye to.

Actually Riot has banned a lot of bots. I remember not that long ago they were talking about huge ban waves against bots. And in fact they catch a lot of them in early levels, which is actually one of their reasonings behind having those levels take so long. So while they're maybe not being as thorough as could possibly be done I do know that they care to some extent and have taken measures to try and fix the issue.

I don't think I've ever encountered a bot in ARAM or Dominion... I don't play those modes as frequently as others though. What do they look like?

Depends on which script variant you run into. Generally though, they have weird names and unusual behavior that normal players wouldn't do (e.g. randomly stopping and uncontrollably spinning in place). They've been around mostly in TT/Dom/ARAM for years and fluctuate in prevalence, recently becoming common again.

Yeah. Bots are most commonly associated with account sellers offering "fresh level 30 accounts." They used to double-dip and abuse the referral system for tons of RP as well, until Riot first changed and then later shut down the referral program. By Riot's own numbers, 70% of accounts with 10+ referrals and 99% of 100+ referrals consisted of bot abusers.

if they have a real first name in their summoner name, a starter icon, and act suspiciously (they usually won't capture points completely in dominion, or defend points at all, or stop moving until a point is in danger)

Well aram is pretty cold most of the time and dominion is rather circley.... :) just teasing. You know them when you see them, but they are starting to get pretty sophisticated.

Considering how fast I got banned for talking about the bots on here, NOPE. It's GG - bots win - humans lose.

You do realize they cant do anything to prevent it? Only to punish after wards.

WoW did account wide bans for 6 months on thousands of accounts for using bot programs. Maybe not prevent it, but they can use the ban hammer to make people more wary about doing it.

Except WoW botting programs were screwing economy for entire game, so they had to write their own programs to deal with bots, and bots keep appearing, and they keep spending money on new, upgraded programs. They had to do something drastic about it.As bots dont really affect much here, only ARAMs and bot games, there is no reason to invest money in huge measures.

Except bots here render League unplayable, or at least massively unenjoyable. The new player experience is impacted particularly hard, since bots are naturally more common in pre-30 games. That's pretty close to "screwing economy" for League, since the playerbase is essentially League's economy.

Bots are in all modes, even ranked. A raka bot actually made its way to diamond/plat cant remember which. But even if it affected just one mode, thats one part of a game you cant enjoy. Those modes have fallen off for various reasons, and id say botting is partially to blame.

Of course they can do something. A simple Captcha to enter a game would disable bots. Heck I had to enter a Captcha to get into this forum. Trust me experienced programmers could do something about the bot problem.
