Has anybody thought of Chat Disabling?

Roommate and I were discussing what had happened to Tyler1.

Instead of permabanning anybody due to toxicity, why not disable their ability to talk at all? Have a few levels of chat restriction, then games of completely removing chat.

Think about it, if a serial killer is put in an environment where they cannot kill, they won't. If a toxic person doesn't have the ability to talk, then they won't say anything toxic. Permabanning is like executing someone in a sense.

You may argue that league is a team game based on communication, but we have resources like Skype, Curse, and smart pings to enable us to play the game and communicate just as fine if they could type.

If the toxic person doesn't have anything positive or productive to say, then they shouldn't be saying anything at all anyway, right? Just a thought, let me know what you think.

Tyler1's Toxicity didn't just stem from him being an asshole in chat.

He also had a burn list, where if he played with people that he was mad at, he would purposely feed, and throw a game to "get back at the person" for the loss. So if you have a shitty game with Douchebag1 and go 0-10 as his jungler, he would throw the game just to get back at you. Somehow Sneaky and Meteos ended up on this list.. which was hillarious.

Furthermore, he would give up and start running down midlane and suiciding down mid over and over and over if the game was more than a few kills out of hand, or someone else made a mistake.

Banning Tyler1 from chat wouldn't have stopped him from doing that. In fact it probably would have caused him to do it more.

Your analogy has one apparent flaw. If the Serial Killer can't kill, then he will turn to torture. If the Toxic Player can't flame, he will turn to trolling.

Yeah I disable my chat completely on a daily basis I tried to Queue up for one match today and I was stuck for like 10 minutes with no match usually because honestly everyone is tired of playing certain roles so I decided to do Mid/Support queue, and just as I thought within 30 seconds I get a match I wonder why???

People are honestly tired of playing support because of toxic players like...

Its like 3-4 minutes in game I think, and the enemy is one hit, the ADC starts ping spamming like an idiot instead of actually helping and killing the enemy who is one hit when they could easily get in position by Flashing and Right clicking the enemy they would be dead I would live and they don't.

So I know its going to be toxic, I type (/Mute All) I turn off my speakers / headset and don't hear anything I just try to play the shitty game they keep doing the same toxic behavior of refusing to go in on kills and intentionally screwing the game over....

The worst part, the player waits until end game to toss out (Insults) and (Chat Harassment) about how I need to delete the game and how much I suck when they should have spent the 3+ seconds they used ping spamming the map in game to press flash and right click in less than 1.5 seconds and actually done something.

Pretty amazing really pisses me off peeps do this and make it impossible to even play a duo role, you try it once in awhile because you can actually play with your friends who know what they are doing and get stuck with a random troll or idiot.
