Riot your report system is broken.

I was just muted for 25 games for standing up for myself. All game i was harassed by my teammates, if only you could see from chat logs what they say its AWFUL................. every time i died, i got a LMAO!!! and this lee sin is bad!!!!! All i said in all chat was "can you report so and so? "and I get mocked by enemy. They start to cuss me out and degrade me. I report everyone who abused me that game and what do i get..? Reports... and I get muted. Look at my chat log. And tell me... Is this right? All game i am abused (thanks to riot you cant see what your allies or enemy are saying, which can range from send me your pictures of your feet to i hope your whole family gets cancer), and i do not curse or swear at them, i tell them to stop and they will get muted and reported and im MUTED? I will attach all 3 games you guys seemed "deemed" as toxic.

Innocent people are being punished Riot.

I see you to two courses of actions here. Either you guys DO something. Or do NOTHING.

Your two choices also have a very simple resolution. Resolving that you CARE about innocent players being DERGRATED and thrown into PITS or Resolving that YOU DONT CARE and youre just going to sit back and spend ALL OUR MONEY WE GIVE YOU TO CREATE SUCH A HORRIBLE COMMUNITY AND "TRIBUNAL".

I don't see a lot of standing up for yourself in those logs. I see a lot of you egging other people on and threatening to report and mute them. Just mute and report as you see fit. Telling people and threatening to do it does nothing but antagonize people and has been considered negative and punishable for as long as I can remember. Seems like you were well intention but while you may have started those games innocent, but you did not end them that way.

Were you 10 game chat restricted before this and did the logs look similar to this?

Seems pretty clear that you are well intentioned and not malicious but you did nothing to improve those situations. I would say you probably made them considerably worse. I wouldn't classify anything you said as telling them to stop. You were using the the reporting system to fling mud back at them.

Trolls don't troll because some random guy never told them off. Its who they are and your response is exactly what they want. Next time ignore/mute them and report them and move on.

It seems Riot just wants people to accept the fact people are going to degrade you and want for you to just mute and report them without having a say or will to change anything at all. Its funny when a Riot Employee and his buddies are cursing and harassing people in allchat and you hand out bans to people who, stand up like the way i do, then report them, when trying to talk sense into people. Oh and yes i have seen a Riot employee whos "supposed to set an example" BASH and DEGRADE others.

Many innocence are sick and tired of this mess and want change NOW.

It was a game about a month ago, i was so enraged at what i saw, me not being harassed, but and ally who was muted and banned for 2 weeks after. I have no proof but my word.

My experience playing with Rioters (the half-dozen or so that I've wound up in games with) has never been anything less than positive.

So I hope you'll forgive me when I say I'm going to need rather more than your word before I accept that statement.

It happened. You don't need to show proof or evidence, you don't need to proof yourself to some no name person on the internet. People can say the moon landing never happened because no evidence, and those people would be imbeciles. Lack of proof or evidence is not proof or evidence that it doesn't exist/isn't true.

There was nothing dignified about how he acted in those games. Unless you consider telling everyone you are going to report them and then giving up dignified.

Me obviously, you dont take someones word for account, i took my time to post on the boards about a problem i see that is growing. Would a troll spend his time ranting on a forum about how he called someone a bitch 10 times throughout a game? No.

I'm sorry if I came across that way. The only thing you said that I didn't take your word for was the thing about a rioter harassing people, but I'm pretty sure I didn't comment on that till now. I just don't find it relevant enough to either dispute or inquire further.

Not that I think you are trolling, but yes a troll absolutely would spent time ranting on the forums about stuff like that. I've seen it plenty of times. Well I guess I can't 100% confirm that they were trolling, but I've seen people with far more severe logs claiming that they did nothing wrong.

There are certainly problems in the game, including the ones you mentioned. I just also think that people behaving like you did in those games is one of those problems.

Riot wants you to be quiet and take the punishment, and deal with it and let it destroy your self esteem. Riot won't do anything to these people because....well. To be honest I don't know why. Riot says they punish toxic players but it seems the majority of toxic players are not punished and it's decent players put on tilt that get punished.

Now, if you as you say stand up for yourself, Riot will strike you down with all the fury of a mighty god. How dare you have self esteem!

Riot will never change their ways unless Tencent asks them, because Riot has grown past the point of caring about their community. They are now successful enough to completely disregard the community while at the same time proclaiming they don't. Baldfaced lies are easier to make when you are successful, you have your success to sustain you through periods of customer or community discourse.

But also it is a double faced coin. Riot can never stop you from playing this game. You can always make any number of smurf accounts. The trick is to never spend any more money on this game ever again. Honestly would you with the way they treat you? No I bet you won't. So keep playing, keep making accounts, and give's not a single ****

I played a game as top lane Cho Gath with a RiotOak nunu in jungle. I never got any help, and the Rioter had the nerve to belittle and talk down to me with snarky passive aggressive remarks. Obviously nothing happened to them, but the fact Riot allows their employees to enter into games and out right harass (passive or not) other players with absolutely no recourse is disgusting. I havn't had a single shred of respect for Riot for some time now but being belittled by Riot both in the form of private emails and in the game itself? Yeah, well, my only response is to vivisect that nasty toxicity and continue to spread it. You go ahead RiotOak and every other rioter, you all are no different then men in police uniforms abusing their power.

If a Rioter broke the Summoner's Code you should submit a support ticket to Riot to bring their attention to the issue. They take things like that seriously and hold their employees to a higher behavior standard than the community at large.

Although it's inaccurate to say that they want you to report them "without having a say in anything at all" - your report is you having a say in it.

It means the same as the reports that triggered your case and resulted in your chat restriction.

And if you can't stick up for yourself without acting just as toxic as they are, you're not doing anything helpful for yourself - and you're actually making things worse on the other people in the game.

Some people will always slip through the cracks, because no system is perfect. But Riot isn't ignoring anything. Some systems are a little more developed than others right now, but that doesn't mean that it's the only thing they pay attention to.

You're conflating the intent with the method. Your intent is fine. Your chosen method, however, is not.

I am not condemning your intent. You want to step up and defend yourself and others from toxic players? Fine. Good. DO THAT. But don't do it by stooping to their level, because then you're just like them.

They are punished. Its the same system being applied to everyone. That is just something people create in their heads because they can't see it happen.

There certainly are ways to instigate people without getting caught but people need to take responsibility for themselves. Fish take bait because they aren't smart enough to know better.

That presumes that all players who are toxic in your game are toxic in all games - which is fallacious.

Alternatively, it presumes that Riot punishes single instances of toxicity - which is largely inaccurate.

So if you send your kids to school and the other kids beat the crap out of your kid bully and harass him and your kid's school Principal says he'll suspend your kid if he retaliates and to just ignore it , yeah, that's real world politics involving Riot's stance on player abuse. That's... exactly how my school was. If there was a fight, both people were punished. That's exactly what I expect of my hypothetical child's school.

Considering I graduated high school in 2000, I'm not sure current policies would tell you much.

While you say that you are no longer following this thread, I'll post this here anyways, in the hopes that you'll see this.

Your motivations are admirable, but as many have stated, your methods require a little bit of improvement. Typical human psychology does not enjoy being communicated in a negative manner. Their normal reaction is to retaliate to that negativity. Lets say one of these "trolls" you speak of may be suffering from tilt from a previous game that trolled them. They just may be at 25% negativity when they started the game, but after seeing that you want to report them, they'll tilt even more and get to 50% negativity. Then they retaliate, you retaliate and the cycle goes on.

Defending and standing up for the verbally abused is great. If you are willing to take a look at alternative methods, then read on.

  1. You can start with gentle reminders that what they are doing is not acceptable and recommend them to stop. This is not to be confused with "I'll report you now and I'll hope you'll stop and reform right away". So something like "Please stop saying things in such a manner, I don't appreciate it."

  2. If they continue, you can let them know that their actions are reportable by saying things like "Did you know, the community believes that if you are calling people to kill themselves is widely unacceptable and you may be reported?". Now this is different than just saying "reported" as it provides context on why they are being toxic. Now I know that during a heated game, that's hard to type, but hey, if you want to change the community, some game time has to give.

  3. Sometimes taking a step back can get you to calm someone else down. If they are responding really negatively to you, it might just be their tilt causing problems. Try stepping back a bit and say "My apologies, did I step on your toes by mistake? I just wanted to calm you down a bit".

  4. According to Riot's statistics, telling others to report an ally / enemy is considered verbal abused and unsportsmanlike. Riot has also stated that the number of reports within the same game does not increase the weight of the report. So if you know that, there is no need to put yourself at risk of a punishment. Report quietly at the end of the game and move on. If you are doing this right, you'll see punishment messages here and there and it'll put a smile on your face.

  5. Sometimes they are legitimately a troll / toxic. Those people enjoy reading the reactions of the innocent and that turns them on. Its just like how bullies enjoy seeing the bullied crying. Don't play their game. Stay cool, calm and collected. You can choose to mute them, you can choose to ignore anything they say (you'll be surprised how much text you can ignore once you've made up your mind you would just ignore them), or you can reverse troll them by saying totally irrelevant things like "Today's apples look fresh". You can have some fun with reverse irrelevant trolling and the trolls quickly learn that there no point in trolling you. Of course, at the end of the game, you can quietly report them (remember point #4).

Don't give up on an honorable motive. Keep trying at it. Do it in an intellectual way, and people will change, 1 player at a time.
