Am I out of luck here?

Today I found out my account was permabanned after I had not played consistently over 2 years. I sent riot an email which goes as follows.

"I quit league of legends 2 years ago after joining the military and did not monitor it at all until recently, playing only twice in-between that time with the same login info. I now find coming back from a deployment and seeing that the account has been permanently banned. I had no idea someone else got my information and was playing my account, and also did not know about the apparent soft bans beforehand. I did not receive any sort of indication that my account was being played or was compromised via email. I tried logging in today 6/26/2016 after a year of inactivity saying I was permanently banned. I am very sorry for whomever was on my account being toxic for the past 2 years and wished I would have been able to prevent it sooner had I been notified. Is there any possible way I can recover my account? I have spent so much money on it and have never been a toxic player myself. Thank you for your time."

In all honesty am I just out of luck here? Or given the circumstance is there any possibility for a reinstated account? The strange part about the whole thing is whoever was playing on my account did not change any of my login info. But had to have been playing for at least the past year.

They'll look into it and move it along to where it needs to be. If nothing can be done then you can make a new account, though if that ends up happening you'll want to keep the login information to yourself this time. :p

Submit a Ticket. Explain your case. Explain your situation. Ask when the account was last active.

And I wish you luck and hope you get your account back man :)

If you can't prove someone else was on your account then Riot wont unban the account.

Keep in mind that if Riot can see that the account WAS compromised, by say, a different ip address logging in miles away minutes after you log off, they'll investigate more. But if, like you said, your account was accessed via your home computer then there's no proof that it wasn't you and you're just lying to get out of a ban.

Note that I'm NOT saying you are lying. I'm just saying that some players lie, saying a friend used their account without their knowledge to try and get unbanned, which is one reason why Riot needs proof that they can see to know for a fact someones account was compromised.

I mean i would assume you left as much detail as you can. Yes accounts can get compromised and if what you are saying is true and you can provide them that you havent been on your account for how ever long you were out they will help you. A lot of people will try and lie about either being hacked, or giving their account to someone Riot will know where the account has been played/log in and it could help if you told them exactly when you stop going on your account as well as when you go back on. It best to provide with a lot of information you can!

To contact support about a ban you start a ticket in General Questions and they'll move it along to the right people.

And it really depends. The "ban system" has 4 punishment tiers.

  • 10 game chat restriction
  • 25 game chat restriction
  • 14 day ban
  • permanent ban

Depending on what you do you can skip tiers and it takes 3 months to drop a tier.

Chat restrictions are usually done if you're being verbally abusive in a few games, but not using racial/homophobic slurs, though you can get a 25 game chat restriction for just saying "%%%got" a few times in one game and using a racial/homophobic slur once or twice. If you're using slurs often in games, you can easily skip the chat restrictions and get a 2 week ban. If you're doing it enough in games you can skip all tiers and get a straight perma.

As for a perma itself, usually only done right off the bat for compromised accounts, buying/selling accounts, trolling/feeding and using illegal programs. Here you can find what's allowed and what's not.

Keep in mind, if you get "perma'd" for a failed payment transaction, you're not truly banned. Your account is locked until you pay what you owe, and once paid the account is unlocked.

Also, for trolling/feeding, those are harder for Riot to really figure out and can take awhile for Riot to do anything about. For this the best thing you can do, if the person doesn't state they're feeding/trolling is by recording the game as giving Riot proof makes it easier for Riot to handle it.

Permanent bans are permanent, yes. But it really depends on the reason for them. One person had been perma'd when they deserved a time-length ban, and it was changed. Others have had it removed due to it being compromised and proof it wasn't them.

After all, not all systems are 100%. All are prone to making mistakes, just like humans are.

Hopefully it is at least a possibility. I think I know who was playing on my account now after I started thinking about it; not that it matters but since I know them explains why they didn't change the info. But they had access to my computer back home which probably makes it harder to prove.
