hey so just throwing this out there

is there a reason why girls get shit for playing? take twitch for instance - 99 out of 100 comments are pervy and completely unrelated to reality or game play. this afternoon i q'd up with a group I had previously played with, they asked me why i dont do skype and truthfully i don't because im a girl. one dude said 'why, are you afraid of being raped?'

guys like that are why more girls dont play. im not a baby, and i dont talk much, but i shouldn't have to sit back and take it and neither should any other girl. if there's such standards for correcting hate speech, homophobia, and racism, there should be something said for gender equality too.

I think you're playing with the wrong people honestly :). You just have to find people who are more mature than those kids lol. It might take a little searching but you can find some amazing groups of people to play with. Goodluck finding people to play with :D.

That said, you didn't have to mention your gender when they asked you about skype.

Now for a rant. This is not a comment about the OP or anyone in particular but more a societal view.

Part of the reason that males are like this is because they are now being raised poorly.

Another part of the reason is that Chivalry is now sexist.

If I open the door for a woman it doesn't mean that she can't do it herself. It means I was raised to be polite...

If I look a woman in the eyes it doesn't mean I am flirting... it is just polite.

If I step up and try to protect a woman it doesn't mean your weak...... it is just right to defend others.

Act's like these are now vilified. When you take away kindness you are left with indifference or hate.

As a female myself, I feel like you should know that you saying "I'm not gonna use Skype/Discord/any type of voice chat because I'm a girl" is YOU asking for guys to make comments like that towards you. I use both Skype and Discord, depending on who I'm playing with at the time. Do any of them care I'm female? No, they don't. To them I'm just another friend who enjoys playing League just as they do.

In game I'm whatever gender my character is but if someone asks I'll tell them I'm female. Heck, I had a game where I was playing Vel'Koz, messed up his combo, and someone made a comment towards me about it. My friend responded with "she messed up, it happens." Someone else on our team asked how he knew I was a she and my friend told the person he's my friend. Did I care he said I'm a girl? No, because I'm perfectly fine with people knowing.

And while I have my fair share of perverted comments and rude remarks, I've always NOT CARED. Depending on the comment I'll respond with, "I have a boyfriend, try again at a later date." then ignore that person if he makes a perverted comment or say "Let me go find a care to give." if they're just being rude about a female playing video games.

I'm also in a Discord channel, where there's quite a few females who play League. Do any of them care? No. Hell, two of them are married to guys who also play League. We just laugh at the stupid shit said to us.

If you're proud of being female, these types of comments shouldn't bother you. If you can't handle them, DON'T LET PEOPLE KNOW YOU'RE FEMALE! Simple as that. I don't care, none of my FEMALE friends care, heck none of my guy friends care I'm a girl. The only ones who I know that get pissed/annoyed about people making perverted/rude comments towards me or my female friends are our significant others and our guy friends.

TL;DR, Be proud of yourself or don't let people know you're a female. Simple as that.

People are assholes. the best thing to do is never say anything about yourself if you don't want hate comments. i am currently ending my writing of this comment because i realize you must be a new age feminist or something. Mute them to limit their toxicity and report them for harassment. I assure you the statement "why, afraid of being raped?" will be taken seriously.

I'm a girl; I don't hide I'm a girl; and I don't get offended when people make sexist remarks.

Why?

Cause I have the mentality of "I really don't give a fuck." Honestly, if TOMORROW they said "the word Female is now going to be cows, have fun." I'd say "lol moo."

I have a friend online who flirts endlessly with me, and I honestly don't care because they're just wasting their time, and children will be children.

You could of said that you do not have a mic or that their is too much noise and you would not be using your mic, but would listen to coms.

my 2 cents

if you are afraid of being harassed by them, why are you playing with them. I personally only play with people that I tolerate, and willing to do voice with.

Honestly you learn more about a person on voice than you do just playing with them.
