A new player's experience in league.

Hello LoL community,

My name is Wrenly, and I'm a new League player. ^.^

I have played probably around 60 (?) games (Summoner level 18). I am absolutely amazed at how horrible (toxic) some of the people who play this game are. I'm learning to build, and how to build against certain champions (I usually play Annie mid if I can). I can't count how many times I've been a little behind in lane (maybe 20 cs and a kill or 2) and the ADC or Top-laner yells "WTF ANNIE STOP FEEDING STUPID!!@?!@?" or "WTF IS THAT BUILD?!@? LOLOL".

How are these people ever expecting to win with attitudes like that? I understand alot of the players I run into while leveling are probably higher level players playing on low accounts, so they may have higher expectations. But seriously, this has to be stopped. I try to explain how being toxic doesn't help, but that usually makes matters worse. Some times they even call me toxic and report me for explaining how they are making me flustered which makes me perform more poorly. I report toxicity where I can, but I doubt it does much good since it is so rampant and Riot does need to make money.

Does it get better at higher levels? I can imagine it may get a little better, but does it?

sigh ,_,

mute is your best friend use it quickly for it to become effective its like most games but this one is a lil more bad because you cant just leave and others effect you quite more than in regular games. Just mute ppl.

Welcome to LoL, Wrenly. Both bad and good. Great game. Bad community. I've had my few rude people but nothing that would make me stop. Not until today. I ran into a "ranked" Lux main in Aram. Right off the bat they were being a complete dou*he. I hadn't said anything mean towards them. I just assumed their ego got a hold of them. Anywho, like JLG said. Mute. It will be your best friend. Once someone starts to talk down about your or anything to upset you, just mute them. It will prevent a lot of stressful conversations and you won't ever see them talking trash to you. :3

1-30 is alot of people who got banned for being toxic and are now making new accounts imo.

It gets better at 30 but not by much. Most games have at least 1 rager.

I miss the early days of league when it first started out; when people had respect and punishment was impactful.

It'll get worse before it gets better, but you'll also get used to just ignoring them. If they're bad, the report function is your friend.

Good news, It does get better! At higher levels, you play with a larger section of the community and that will improve your experience. When you won't be playing with this smaller sub-set of players, you'll have less high-level players on low-level accounts and less "toxic" players (there will still be some, of course; this is an online game after-all).

But not only that, your games will improve in other ways. At higher levels or at a leveled account, matchmaking will also improve naturally and you will get less of those unfair matches as well. I made the account with intention to teach some new players (may as well put all my hours in to some use), so you could add me if you want and I can answer some questions, especially after I figure out how to use some VoIP software.

If you are like me, then I must tell you this. Yes, it gets a little bit better onward, but the toxicity never goes away.

I've grown numb to it...

Lately I just use the chat command /mute all and I just play the game.

Does it get better at higher levels? Some say it does. But I cannot say that's been my experience. In fact, I was flamed more in one positional game to get a ranking than I have been in the entire two months I've been playing. So, no, I won't say it gets better as you level up.

What I CAN say is what I've done to put an end to it as much as I can. I report people who break the rules. I also mute people who continually do so even if it means having a severe lack of team communication. The Tribunal will be back soon and I am signing up.

Report rule breakers and they'll be dealt with.

Honestly, I wish I could say it does, but it never seems to. I can count on both hands how many games I have had where there was not at least one toxic player on my team. Even if we're winning or ahead, someone has to find something and poke at it and make fun of it.

Its hard to say if it gets better at higher levels. It has been forever since I first got 30. I have played this game a lot and if I am playing solo I only played ranked. I would say once you are within your actual elo in ranked it gets better, but thats probably false. Ranked games, especially bronze and low silver elo can be pretty toxic. Maybe normal games after your ranked??? haha.

The best thing you can do while leveling up is try and learn the game and champions and ignore any toxic assholes and report them if necessary. Once you have a better understanding of the game you will know if what their complaining about is legitimate or if there just a flamming troll. Either way, if they continue to be toxic they will eventually be banned.

Sorry for the new player experience in this game and I do hope you continue playing. I don't think the game is as toxic as it used to be but... I can't really prove it haha.
