GAME NEEDS VOICE CHAT

The speed of this game is too fast for people to stop and type "don't engage I have no mana" or "don't jump in when you're 10hp and they are 500hp".

  1. Jayce just jumps on her with no real strategy just a leap of faith and some damn prayer.
  2. Singed sits under plate tower get jumped on walks away and goes back in for no reason? (He's not trolling though)
  3. We get some kills bot rotate drag and bot lane decides to keep farming and recall because the two minions they got was worth more than drag. 4.They know how to use their champs. How is in not trolling when they die for no reason??

Written chat is toxic enough, i really don't need some rando kid telling me that he will kill my sister and sleep with my dog.

You know, I can't think of something this game needs LESS than voice chat with randos.

I can imagine the resulting threads now...

"WE NEED A REPORT BUTTON IN VOICE CHAT"

"THIS KID TOLD ME TO HAVE SEX WITH MY GRANDMA AND I DEFENDED MYSELF AND I GOT PERMAD AND HE'S STILL PLAYING"

"RIOT SHOULD HAVE PEOPLE RECORDING AND LISTENING TO ALL CHAT WTF RITO"

"<>"

"don't engage I have no mana" or "don't jump in when you're 10hp and they are 500hp".

Pings exist that work just fine for these. Clicking on health or mana pings what % you are at.

Its not cause there is a mute button everybody is gonna use it bro. furter more voice chat i dont see a reason why they should do it. We got things like discord if you really wanna voice chat.

Voice chat would need to be an opt in system, much like it is for pre mades already. This is why they haven't issued punishments for posting discord (or other) links so people may optionally join. Monitoring voice chat is a costly and inefficient due to dialects and accents; especially since a computer probably couldn't handle it accurately.

You mention other systems and games that have voice. Well, how many of those are free games? How many are games that you can drop out of matches without getting a penalty? How many have a method to remove a player on your team (kick system)? How many don't have a way to simply opt out via a menu?

i played dota for so so long

and voice chat was used mostly as :

1- a way to yell at ppl and hurting ears

2- some random guy open music

3- some guy talk in way way low voice you cant even hear shit and if you did it turn out to be pointless

unless you are playing with friends i found voice chat to be pretty meh and pings can do enough

ping your CD/mana/health ect ect to tell allys you are not in if they fight ping danger if you dont want others to engage

voice chat is a really really really bad idea... 99% of the chat would be you or a teammate yelling at the other people on your team and then somehow have to find a way to moderate that.. just not smart

People being salty and toxic in chat is bad enough. Don't really need to hear it through our speakers.[slayer-jinx-unamused]

Want voice chat? link a discord server on the lobby to see if your team want to chat with you. Same thing.

An opt-in voice chat at max. People can not even handle a little banter even in written chat....

My experiences with voice chats with random players:

  • Player yells in my ears in foreign language in an attempt to break my ears
  • Player plays too loud music which threatens to break my ears
  • Player argues with someone in his RL location in some foreign language, breaking my ears again

After those and couple of other similar experiences, I turned off voice chat and never touched that setting again and enjoyed the game. Do we need that in League? No. Absolutely not. It would be useless feature, just like premade voice chat is for most people. People can use Discord, Skype or some other VOIP software when playing. Riot can utilize their time to create better, more important things for League and never waste another moment even to consider adding more functionality to the current voice chat.
