Can I get banned for being bad?

I just hit 30 a couple days ago and have played 3-4 ranked games and done flat out terrible in them all. In each of them my team totally melts down and spends more time bashing me then anything else in chat. A couple times they all said they'd report me at the beginning of the match before the minions had even spawned. I main Lux, so I chose support and offered to play adc....whatever they felt was best for the team. They said I was a deranker and trolling and I was trying to get a b5 account (I dont even know what that is). One guy said I should go back to playing bots....but bots are boring/easy. I just want to learn how to get better at ranked and the only place it seems I can do that is actually playing ranked. I assumed that if I was terrible the matchmaking would group me with equally terrible people and it wouldnt matter. Do i need to worry about getting banned now? It seems stupid that someone could get banned just for being unskilled....but I've only been playing LoL for 3 months and dont know what's possible and what isnt.

I would not recommend you play ranked if you just hit 30.

You currently still suck at the game (no offense, we all did at one point) and will likely drop down to Bronze, which can be annoying to get out of. I'd recommend practicing in normal games for a few months, at the very least.

Personally, I waited two and a half seasons before beginning to play ranked so that I knew how to play the game will and could climb to Platinum quickly.

When you first start playing ranked, you are placed roughly around Silver 4 MMR and you will climb or fall from there depending on your performance. While you will eventually climb or fall to your appropriate skill level, it takes a while to do so.

Anyways, you can't get banned for being bad at the game. Some people are just salty.

You can get better by playing the same game in Normal mode. Ranked tends to be filled with rather high-strung players who are more likely to snap at you. It's not a good thing, but unfortunately that's how it is for now.

And no, you cannot be banned for playing poorly unless you're doing it on purpose. All we can ask of you is that you try to win, and hopefully try to improve as well.

I wouldn't sweat it. The playerbase can be pretty brutal sometimes. Mute button's your friend there. Just try your hardest and you'll be fine.

Ok thanks. I'm seriously trying my best each time. My hope was that it would rank me with equally bad people so it wouldnt be as noticeable and we'd all be crappy together...lol.

Don't play ranked, play normals.

Linthe6/27/2016, 5:24:30 PM2 votes

No.. UNintenional feedling. is not punishable. Having a bad game. or a series of bad game is not punishable.

You may get ingame flamed... or even in game reported. But as long as you are not feeding on purpose, you are fine.

Honestly the only way to get better is to play ranked, so you keep doing you fam. Being bad is not a reportable offense by any means. If you're just trying to get better at the game then you do you and just mute anyone who wants to flame you for trying to be better :3

Just play normals until you feel like you have improved. Watch YouTube videos on how to improve. Get better at csing, and poking. I'm not the best but I am just trying to give you tips so you don't do what I did and jump into ranked asap then get put in bronze and struggle getting out. I have improved since I've played ranked a few years ago, and I am climbing. My brothers friend jumped right into ranked, and won 3 of his game and got put in bronze 1. you kept playing ranked thinking he was better then he is and got right to bronze 5, not kidding either. Just take it slow and practice and once you feel like you have improved start playing ranked.

you cant be banned or punished for bad play. it happens we all have had bad games. to have a little more context on your issues i looked at your account, you just reached lvl 30, you have less then 100 normal wins and you play pretty much only lux support. if im wrong plz correct me. with such little amount of games played you have a long long way to go to learn all the champs 131 of them and to properly learn the concepts of team play, objective control ect. that takes many games. you also need to get a better idea of build paths, itemization , runes and masteries. i would stick with normals learn more of everything, more champs ect. have a deeper champ pool there for you can put yourself in the best match up to win. but flat out i would stay away from rank til you have at least 300 normal game wins, ideally normal draft mode. goodluck

300 normal wins? Yikes. I can do that I guess but it took me 3 months to get to where I am now. That means I cant play ranked for like my first year or longer? That's rough. I'm getting the general impression that support is a position that's pretty underappreciated by people.....so even if I do it halfway correct I'm still going to piss someone off. If that's the case I'm wondering if I should just quit playing Lux/support and try to play another champ/role instead.

Well, generally regardless of how bad or good you are, you're gonna have equally bad or good opponents so you're gonna get outplayed at some point. When you get outplayed, you're gonna get flamed. It happens in every division. Even if you go back to normals to practice and get better, the flaming is NOT going to stop... ever. Just keep doing ranked, since that's the best way to improve (against players who are actually trying and not just trying out new Champs or playing casually). Mute those who flame you... not when they go "play safe"... that can be a helpful thing to hear on bot lane cuz that means your adc probably isn't going to be all inning with you, so you know to just stay back and poke without committing to an all in... but mute when they get insulting. Watch videos for tips and if you really are serious about getting good, you should consider recording your games and watching replays every few matches to see what you did wrong. Focus on yourself always.

I've been playing normals for 3 months. Is this what Riot wants? They dont want new players moving into ranked games if we're really bad? I'd say that's a bad business decision for them considering if you limit my access to the game....it equally limits how much of my money they get from me.

AsphodelNext6/27/2016, 5:58:28 PM1 votes

If you've only played 3-4 games, you're still in your placement matches, and so you'll get matched against people whose skill level differs from yours drastically. Don't sweat losing a few games, after 10 you'll end up in a comfortable place facing people who you can win against. Most people get placed lower than their skill level so they have to climb back up.

Jo0o6/27/2016, 6:07:30 PM1 votes

Practice in Draft normals. Play with more experienced players that you're friends with if possible. Watch some Youtube videos.

You almost certainly won't be punished by Riot for performing poorly (Unless your engage in retaliation flaming or are so incredibly bad that your behavior is indistinguishable from somebody intentionally feeding), but unfortunately, it's a rough journey into ranked. I'd recommend holding back for a bit until you're more comfortable with the level 30 climate.

If you're getting flamed every game try support malphite or braum, get some good blocks for your team high armor. You should be flamed every game until you contribute to the team, it's not fair to the other people that are playing if you feed out of control on some hot chick character.

it's not punishable but it ruins games more than toxic players do.

Rain Smurff6/27/2016, 8:13:13 PM1 votes

play norms and learn the game. Mute people you play with, nobody is good at this game anyway unless they are mid diamond or higher.

Tahyana6/27/2016, 10:33:36 PM1 votes

As someone who plays in Normals to improve their game, I would agree with the others that suggest it. I am on a team that is trying to get their teamwork down to enter ranked and climb. I've tried at least four ranked games and got steamrolled. I still have a lot to learn.

I watch: https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingCurios https://www.youtube.com/user/ScrapComputer https://www.youtube.com/user/Redmercy https://www.youtube.com/user/stonewall008 https://www.youtube.com/user/Duffman319 and others for gaming tips and game play paying close attention to how they play and listening their commentary and their thinking process. I also have other channels I watch for guide tips on champs and strategies. https://www.youtube.com/user/pentamagic is excellent for tips and tricks as well.

Just beware in Normals. You do have people that don't take it seriously because they are of the mindset "Well, it's not like it's ranked."
