New Players and Toxicity

I played League several years ago back in college and only recently picked it back up. It feels like a completely new game now and I'm essentially what you would call a "noob." Never has the community of a game made me want to never do this again more. And I've played COD online, folks! The trash talking of people is just sad and unfortunately reflects the illusion of being able to talk differently online than you would a person. If I'm out playing football or basketball or any other sport and I do not fully understand gameplay yet, most of the more knowledgeable players will simply say just keep at it or give pointers. Not in League of Legends. God forbid you actually be someone new to this game. There are so many people with multiple accounts who already know their way around this game who are simply playing us "noobs" because it's easy. And then when they get one of us on their team we are ridiculed into never wanting to touch this game again. The whole point of a game is for it to be entertaining. You are still you, even on the internet. And those you are talking to are people too. I didn't grow up being taught it was okay to treat strangers like that. The Golden Rule my friends.

Yeah I just joined cause I have a feeling Paladins is gonna be totally screwed after this new patch and since I got a taste of moba lite I wanted to go in head first into the real thing. (because if Hi-Rez fooled me once with paladins you really think I am gonna let them fool me twice with smite?) So far I haven't met any toxic people though which is nice and I have seen that if you are friendly then everyone else is too. So so far this game has a lot more promise in terms of less toxicity and the devs seem to actually listen to the community somewhat. [sg-kiko]

While I'd welcome you back, I do feel sympathy for you going through the lower levels. Not for the progress and learning the game itself. But for the fact, you're probably dealing with a lot of extremely angry players who made new accounts due to being recently permabanned. Riot developed a strict system to clean out a lot of toxic players. So just know that the report function and mute function are your best friends when it comes to dealing with the players you described.

I hope your gaming experience eventually improve and I wish you luck.

I'll level with you, people don't seem to understand this. EVERY game has a toxic community when it's big. More people = more chances of toxic people to join. ESPECIALLY with chat involved. Imagine CoD with no voice chat. There's nothing much you can do but report and as more and more toxic players are banned, and more people see that they can be punished, the general toxicity will go down.

While I completely understand what your saying and agree that there is a big problem with this. I've had it happen the other way also.

Years ago when I started playing we had someone missing at the start, I was in bot by myself for awhile. Of course I pushed to far twice and killed. Then the enemy starts to give me advice. Good advice, I had to ask my team is this for real.

Yes, it was and I learned more that game then any other. When the other team was told we had an afk for about 10 one of them stayed in base til our support came back. I was stunned. We lost but it goes down as one of my favorites.

I know this isn't the norm but similar things have happened to me since then.

So what I'm saying is their are good people in this game. When you find one friend them and play with them.

Good Luck OP !
