So a friend got me banned because he jokingly reported me

(Desperate post to get riot to unban me quicker)

He reported me as a joke cuz "haha imagine if you actually got banned xD" and then I got banned for 14 days for telling him "kys" and "actually neck yourself". So I'm sort of hoping a rioter sees this here cuz I wanna rank during the weekend but last time they resolved my ticket was 4 days after it was made. For those of you that are gonna say "ok but what about the rest of the team, what if they didn't know it was a joke and they got offended :(" we made it clear that we were premades and that we were just banting to each other and we all had a good game, but I still got banned for 14 days over 2 words with no previous punishments or warnings. That's 0 punishments after playing for more than a year, I'm nice af.

There was someone who posted a similar issue earlier, stating that they had reported a friend and got them 14-day banned for saying "kys". I'm going to assume that was in reference to you, and this post is in reference to them.

Here's the issue; it doesn't matter if you told the rest of your team you're a premade. Nobody wants to hear people tell others to kill themselves, nobody wants to deal with people flaming. That's why we have rules against it - with encouragements of self-harm ("kys") falling under Riot's zero-tolerance policy, regardless of if it was intentional or just "as a joke", because:

Suicide is not a fucking joke. That should not have to be said.

Even still, the other players in your group could very well have reported you, too. It's pretty damn certain that your friend reported you, if the two posts mentioned are related, but still, just because you're in a premade and you tell your team that, doesn't mean you can get away with breaking the rules.

Take this as a lesson, and refrain from saying "kys" ever again, even as a joke. Because, again. It isn't.

I remember that reversal. The player in question had said nothing in all chat and had gotten his entire team to vouch for him, retracting the 'joke' reports. Your friend may not even have been the only person to report you in that game. And in that case, it's far less likely for the punishment to be retracted.

Riot doesn't see reports as jokes. If there's a report, the game is checked. Period. If it finds chat that breaks the rules, a punishment is applied based on a combination of severity and behavioral history.

And considering the most common use for "kys" is an abbreviation for "kill yourself", you will be hard pressed convincing anyone you intended a different meaning.

Not everyone who reports verbalizes it to the player. And it's not about 'hating' the reported player, it's about not wanting chat that is distracting at best and abusive (real or joking) at worst.

Since this resulted in a 14-day ban, your account will be on thin ice. The next punishment level is a permaban and even something minor but punishable will result in losing your account.

I'd suggest, once you get your account unlocked, sticking to gameplay. Things like brb if you need to heal or buy stuff, ty for ganks, and gj for kills or objectives. Otherwise, keep it to pings and possibly emotes. If you're still friends with that guy who thought he could joke-report, I'd suggest sticking to voice chat if there's even a remote possibility you want to joke around with him.

As long as you keep your own chat clean, you'll be fine.

I'd say your friend is the dumb one. My friends and me do 5s often and with each other we use offensive terms and "verbally abuse" each other in jest between friends. But we never would report each other because there are some pretty clear 0-tolerance policies out there. And I sure as hell keep quiet when there is even one person in the group that I don't know well enough to joke around with. I'd say most of the blame lies with your friend for being too dumb to realize the consequence of reporting you for something that is an auto-ban when reported.

Bet I can one up it.

My friend who rarely plays league and almost never uses chat typed

"You big dumb poopie heads" "Wait no I'm sorry"

Got a 2 week ban for saying that. It was backing out of the toxicity that got him banned.
