Yeah, this is a very good example of the punishment system working as intended.

Just fyi, it doesn't matter what others are doing or who started it, there's no excuse for your own toxic behavior. Riot has always had the policy that retaliation is never acceptable.

If someone is being toxic to you, the best way for you to defend yourself is to mute them and then report them after the game. The instant you start slinging your own insults back at them, you are making all reports against you in that game valid.

One vote matters as much as nine in the system, so long as the players involved don't make a habit of falsely reporting.

You can also stand up for yourself without making the situation worse for all involved.

One report or nine, all it does is flag the game for review. It only counts against you if you did something wrong, otherwise it counts against them.

The fairness is that people who didn't do anything wrong don't get accurately reported, and if they are falsely reported the system drops it.

Toxic people shouldnt be able to report toxic people it doesnt make sense. If i piss you off and make you start talking shit in a game then i stopped and my friend was in the game and we report you guaranteed il recieve no punishment buht you will cuhz it was flagged to look at you get me?

That's a worse system than what's currently in place, where I can report you for making this bad to start with. There's no reason only I should be punished if you're just as bad as me, simply because you've got a friend with you who didn't say anything.

If you knew the difference between wrong and right you would not have typed what you did into the chat. Riot doesn't care if they flamed you first, and neither do I. All toxic behavior, retaliatory or otherwise is punishable. If you'd have just muted and reported after the game instead of shooting your mouth off then you wouldn't be having this problem.

You were toxic, you clearly have not learned anything from your ordeal (due to the aforementioned density), and the thread is a perfect example of the report/ban system working as intended. Now we just need to hope for your eventual forum ban as well (assuming you don't change your attitude).

Firstly, I appreciate the change in tone. I apologize if I sounded harsh at first, but I see so many threads exactly like this one every day that is gets rather grating after a while.

The thing about the report system is that one person being punished doesn't mean everybody is. Think of it like this example. Two different people are pulled over for speeding. Let's say they were both going 68 mph in a 55 mph zone. Same cop, same type of vehicles, same speed, same general time of day, pulled over in the same general area.

One of the two drivers has a history of being pulled over and ticketed for speeding, but the other one has an otherwise clean record. The one with multiple offenses would most likely be ticketed and fined, while the first time offender would probably get let off with a warning.

Accounts that have previously been chat restricted or temporarily banned are punished more harshly than people without that history of punishments. If you were permanently banned, you would have had to have been chat restricted and temp banned previously. In which case, you've had plenty of warning that this could happen.

On the other hand, the people who flamed you might have never been punished before and so were let off with a warning, if even that.

It's unfortunate that you were banned, but Riot needs to be stern about this kind of thing. This game has a reputation for having a less than desirable community, and it's a reputation that Riot wants to change. The point of the warnings is to keep the punishments from being necessary, and it is made clear by Riot that retaliation is just as punishable as starting the flaming in the first place. Again, sorry you were banned. However, you seem to have brought this upon yourself.

I wish you luck if you decide to make another account. Just try to resist the urge to fan the flames next time.

I think I'm beginning to see your point, but I still need to point out a few things here.

The report system doesn't care how many people per game report you. They aren't measured like that. Each individual game you are reported in counts as one instance of being reported. It is like that specifically so that 3-4 person premades can't abuse the system to get solo queue players punished. You can get warning popups without even typing in chat, but you will not be punished unless you do or type something punishment worthy.

This might be a matter of opinion, but I personally think that even a temp ban for a first time offense is too steep. The chat restrictions should get the point across perfectly clearly. But again, that might just be a difference of opinion.

I get the frustration there, but you can actually report THEM for trying to hold you hostage like that. All you have to do is not say anything back to them, and they won't have anything to back up their report. You'll get off with a warning at worst, and they'll be flagged for that game at least. As long as you don't type anything that can be construed as inflammatory or toxic, you will only get warnings for this kind of thing. Never a higher escalation.

I totally understand this and agree with it to an extent. You can freely express yourself, but you need to be conscious of exactly what you are typing. As long as you can express yourself in non-toxic ways, you will never have to worry about reports. Just ask yourself the following question whenever you want to type something into the chat box.

Could what I'm typing be considered offensive by Riot's system? (Example, your uses of the words "gay" and "n*gguh") If so, then maybe I shouldn't type it. (Note: I know you say that you had no racist/homophobic intent with those words, and I'm inclined to believe you. However, they are by nature inflammatory words to the general population and Riot's automated system. It would be wise to use those types of words only with people you know FOR SURE will not take them negatively. i.e.: People you know in real life or a 5 man premade that you know will take it well. It would probably be best to keep these words out of /all chat as well.)

Anyways, I wish you luck if you make another account. Again, just try to resist giving the flamers ammunition. Do that, and their reports will be as potent as a long-tailed cat at a rocking chair convention.

You seem to be under the impression that people don't believe that what you said was in response to others negativity but that is not the case. It just doesn't change anything.

You can claim it to be how you talk or that it is acceptable where you are from all you want, but none of that changes that it is 100% unacceptable in league of legends.

Defending yourself is not being a piece of shit, but the way you responded was unacceptable. You didn't stand up for anything, you were just flinging garbage at people. If you want to defend your self, mute them. Its an absolute defense. Report them at the end if you see fit. What you did was make the situation worse.
