So, came back to the game after a long break, and now can't have a single game where someone isn't calling people "retard" or just being an ass. Is this what league is now? A bunch of people hurling insults and slurs at each other? I know there was plenty of that before but now it seems you can't escape it, not to mention that the people doing it won't be punished. Starting to prefer Overwatch, at least I can get through one match without people flipping the hell out
"retard" is my favorite word to describe my teammates.
Overwatch is less toxic because you can just dodge out of normals...
Funfact; Ignore/mute and report.
If people did that more often, their would be less toxicity in the chat. But not everyone does, instead they let the toxicity rise and then leave right after the game ends without once thinking to report.
You must not play Overwatch a lot if you think the community isnt as bad as League. I mean you basically are describing every single online game there is. People have always acted like this before, you either didnt care about it, or ignored it because you were new to the game. Now that you know and understand you start to see its true colors more frequently.

As I see it here is the problem, some want the game more strict and others simply want to play as they wish and see fit to.
I believe my position is clear, I want to play a fair game and have Fun, but yet as you bring up people are still rude! And you are correct!
Here is where we may disagree, I believe Riot is doing a Lot of things to combat the nasty play that is in the game. I would encourage Riot to keep it up. I'm not sure how to help you though. Except I got 4 friends :) who could help you get threw a game w/o harassment ! GL
