LeaverBuster Too sensitive

Lets talk about leaver busters. I like the general idea of the system but think it might be a little synsitve. sure punish the rage quitters its a good idea i had to deal with one earlier today but honestly I think the system is currently two synsitive as it punishes people for computer malfunctions and infustructur brakedowns as well. i can think of 4 reasons of the top of my head that could force you to leave a game and thats not even acounting for medical or family emergencies.

  1. power outage
  2. internet provider goes down.(i.e. you have cable internet and the cable goes out) 3.Computer crashes for software malfunction
  3. hardware malfunction shuts down your computer Now i hate it when someone points out a problem but doesnt propose a solution you could make it so that when you click the leave game button it automaticaly gives you a leaver buster but when you leave a game without that it sends your chat for that game to a tribunal if there is indication that you left by powering the computer down then you also get a leaver buster

There is built in leniency because it is expected that most people will occasionally run into issues(like the ones you listed). If those things are happening enough to get you punished by leaverbuster then you have a problem that you need to fix before queuing again. It is each players responsibility to provide a working computer and connection. Leaverbuster is not just to punish rage quitters, but also people who are negligent in providing a working computer/connection.

Your solution wouldn't work at all either. Rage quiters would just pull the plug instead of exit the game.

Life happens i get that. But if you are getting PUNISHED for these types of leaves (not juat warnings) then you are leaving frequently. Either by choice or by coinidence it does not matter.

YOU are responsible for maintaining the stability of your internet connection / home net work, paying your power bill, etc.

If you are being dropped from games FREQUENTLY due to situations beyond your control (isp sucks, power company is crap, etc) the. You need to change companies or something. But again, thats on you.

the problem is i dont think rito knows if ur computer/client crashed during a game or u just felt mad and shutted down ur computer without leaving the game.

Pretty much what the first poster said. There is some leniency involved for accidents like a power outage and such. But if you are repeatedly disconnected, eventually the system will increase the punishment level. The program simply cannot see the difference between a line being disconnected by the wind and someone using the program manager of their OS to shut down the game client because someone on their team died five times. And the excuses can, and are, often abused. Riot has to draw the line somewhere.

While I understand and agree that part of our responsibility as summoners is to ensure a secure connection I don't think you really realize how out of our control some of the things I mentioned are.

For instance League of legends allows players of any age so long as an adult is the one who created the account which means a lot of the players don't have control over who their internet provider is or what computer they use. another issue that you seem to have forgotten is that especially in the US power companies have legal monopolies over regions and therefore you can't change power providers without moving long distance.

also if you live in an older dorm like some universities require for their freshmen then you could live in a building where you have no control over a faulty power grid

@SmokedAlmonds i think you missed the second half of my proposed sollution where leavers are added to the existing tribunal system looking for motive if a you leave the game without hitting the exit button.

@Makior72 The leniancy thing that your talking about is one game from my experiance you get one warning and then you get a buster and some things are beyond even the providers controll such as storms or car accidents taking out power lines for instance i have had power go out twice in one day because of car accidents that i had no way of knowing about.

It takes multiple leaves to actually trigger leaverbuster. So, I can't really feel sorry for anyone who gets nailed by it. Even 5 minutes afk will completely shift the dynamic of a game.

In addition, the punishment scale resets over time so if you keep running into it, you ARE a problem even if you feel like you aren't
