Gaining Honor is Too Easy

If I understand the new Honor System correctly, people increase their Honor rank naturally over time, and actually getting Honored just speeds up that process. I try really hard to be sportsmanlike, and I think League would be a lot more enjoyable if more people did. Honor is supposed to give sportsmanlike players something to feel good about, but it seems like nearly everyone will wind up having a very high Honor level after playing enough games. The only way your Honor rank gets decreased (I think) is if you receive a chat restriction or something of that nature; not even a report has an impact. It seems to me like there are a huge number of players who don't get those kinds of punishments but also are not sportsmanlike by any stretch of the imagination, and making people's Honor rank naturally increase over time seems to lump them together with the truly sportsmanlike players. In my opinion, having higher Honor ranks (maybe 6 and 7) that are actually difficult to obtain and require Honors to remain in would feel much better.

The system is more about getting players to a base level of non-toxicity, than highlighting those who go above and beyond to be extremely enjoyable to play with.

That's the point. You shouldn't need consistent approval from 4 strangers on your team each game in order to receive honor. If you behave in an honorable, sportsmanlike manner, then you should be recognized for it.

It's just like in real life. If you help an old lady carry her groceries across a busy intersection or help a group of lost tourists find their way to their hotel room, then that's you being a good person. You shouldn't need those people to tell you that you were being a good person in order for you to understand that concept. That's why players gain honor in this new system just by doing the right thing, which in this case means being a good, well-behaving teammate.

You probably should wait and see how many neutral games it takes to gain a level first before making such comments.

I dont remember reading anything saying that it would increase over time. just by getting honors.

I think the idea here is to improve the _overall _player experience by offering positive incentives to behave well, rather than to reward already sportsmanlike players who is already behaving well. While it is nice to be recognized for good behaviors and being "honorable", for me, it's more important to look at this at the big picture - to improve the overall community behavior to create an enjoyable experience for everyone by providing incentives.

In the eyes of players who are already friendly, this may be seen as our previous status has been taken away. But honestly, if this new honor system can help the community as a whole to become less toxic, I'm all for it.

Yeah but now more than 5% of the players will have hight honor. Plus that if you don't get a honor you will never be able to show of that you are lvl 3-5. Other players can't see your honor and you can't see their honor by going on their profile page. It's just gives rewards. It's not like always getting honors. But it will be imposible now to get honor ranks the old way becase now one player honors one player. Riot deffently won't make it so that you must totally rely on your team to get your free rewards. You cna be always sportsmanlike but if you are playing with selfish guys you will never get the rank up. This way everyone, who is not a total "put something bad here", can feel special. I think that this was one of the greatest thing Riot have ever done.
