A friend of mine is being stalked and she currently can't block the harasser. Can the devs help?

Here is what she requested I post (she wanted it posted under another account so that things wouldn't escalate):

Hey guys, I’m having a friend post this for me because I can’t post it myself in my current situation. I think adding people manually to your block list needs to come back. I have someone in my life who is borderline stalking me (they have been told not to contact me again, and if they ever show up near me again I will be getting a restraining order). They keep trying to add me on league on various accounts, it’s usually a specific account that they use, but sometimes they try and add me from new accounts as well. For obvious reasons, I don’t want to have to accept the request to block them. I think that manually adding people to the block list or adding a block option when someone sends you a request is something that should happen.

Thanks for any help!

It's in the stickies. You should be able to block anyone who sends you an unwanted friend request without having to friend them first.

i know this isnt the answer she wants but it can be a solution to the problem to provide her with some comfort. she can change her summoner name so he dont know it any more and then cant message her.

have her submit a support ticket explaining the situation and see it RIOT will be kind enough to allow her to do it at no cost.

on top of what Ulanopo said, you can also go ingame and /block (or was it /ignore) [Person's name]

Blocking won't really do much if they keep making new accounts.

I'm not sure what the best course of action is for you.

Only accept friend requests from users you have recently played with.

I mean she can block him, its just he is going to keep making new accounts and try to add her again and again. She probably shouldnt be adding anyone till this is fix, but i would suggest she contact Support and possibly try to give any and all information about this ordeal. Hopefully she kept track of the names trying to add her that way whom ever looks at the Ticket could try and see where it is coming from.

[my mostly serious tag]

Sadly, I doubt she will get any help, because that would require Riot employees to put on their big girl panties and admit there is a fucking problem. I've told them this on numerous documented occasions with my legit account.

As an adult, most of these low life retards amuse me, but It will be sad/funny when some kid ends up hurt and Riot game ends up in court claiming they had no idea.

As far as I know there are 3 ways this is occomplished:

ONE. Assistance of a Riot employee.

TWO. Dumb kiids/adults who are prone to the darker side psychology of group dynamics will send messages in game to people they don't know who are playing with the summoner they want to harrass, and tell them to throw the match for XYZ reason. (I've on various occasions gotten such messages, and if you don't know what's up, you're first inclination is to help.)

Does Riot have access to these private in game chat messages? Do they regularly review such messages which ask others to grief and throw matches? Who the F knows... but probably not. There is not much you can do here, given the low IQ of most summoners, but I guess you could try saying something beforehand, and hoping for the best.

THREE. Various methods/apps which I can't/won't share, which give even the dumbest of summoner, access to things like who is in queue for matches, and try to correlate what other summoner accounts they use. etc etc

Riot should be actively blocking such attempts, but like I said in number 1, often times a Riot employee is helping out. Not much you can do, even if the employee is caught, they laugh it off and claim it's just harmless prank, and there is apparently zero accountability for such things internally.

Changing her summoner name will offer little if any relief.

Anyway, sorry to be a total downer, but please update and let us know if your friend gets any help for her situation. I would love to be surprised. However, as usual, this will probably only get attention after it ends in tragedy for some poor kid.

Furthermore, it's impossible or impractical to block all the summoner names, as these trolls often have dozens of accounts, and if those accounts get blocked they recruit some other dumb ass. Case and point, I thought nothing of adding my harmless looking neighbor to my friends list, but sure enough the asshole ended up getting messaged and helping to grief my games. So basically the only solution is add no friends? No, the solution is to add privacy settings and block exploits, and for RIOT TO DO THEIR JOB AND INVESTIGATE SUCH CASES ACTIVELY by searching the private chat log of the summoners accused. That's something only Riot can do, and they would quickly find that those people are usually also active booster/cheaters.

Easy fix:

  1. Remove anyone from your current friends list that has contact with the individual (and whom you do not trust)

  2. Change your summoner name (it's relatively inexpensive) and this should keep them from finding out who you are.

  3. If, somehow, the are able to contact you in game then contact Riot support (You'll have to virtually stalk them to get a non-automated response, but once you do they should be receptive).

  4. If you know who they are outside of game then the very first thing that you should do is contact law enforcement and show them the details of your interactions including every instance in which you have told the individual in question to cease all contact with you. Additionally, you should file a simultaneous Temporary Restraining Order.

Hope that helps.
