How long does Riot punish your ability to get chests and keys after punishment?

It seems majorly unreasonable that after the punishment ends, this restriction still remains.

I can't verify with an official source, but I hear it's 35 games for a 10 game chat restriction, 70 for a 25 game chat restriction, and around 140 for a 14 day ban (the official word is there is no set duration). Continued negative behavior will just get you punished again and increase the penalty, so you'll need to improve your behavior when working off the ineligibility. The reason you are punished with this even after the regular restriction/ban is because Hextech Crafting isn't a privilege, it is considered a reward for good behavior. Technically you aren't being "punished", you just aren't being rewarded.

Thanks for the answers, but it's my belief that this is just another system to help Riot monetize their platform. The fact that you aren't on punishment means you are doing fine. I'm willing to bet you can still pay for the chests and keys though.

I believe it's more that Riot wants recently punished players to actually prove that they've reformed. Think about it, if a toxic player immediately gets Hextech Crafting back after their previous punishment expires and they still continue to be toxic, then it proves that they never really reformed in the first place. By locking it off it forces them to make a choice and ask themselves what's more valuable to them: the ability to use Hextech Crafting or continuing to be a jerk to other people.

You can still buy them. That has nothing to do with it. The point is that they aren't giving out free stuff to people who can't or wont behave.

A punishment expiring doesn't mean that you are doing fine at all. The fact that you were punished in the first place does, however, demonstrate that you were not fine. The period in which you cannot earn hextech rewards is to demonstrate that you have actually improved.

I get one chat restriction and I'm a player that "can't or won't" behave? I am certainly fine after I was punished for what I did wrong, I served my time. Acting like I somehow deserve continued punishment is unrealistic. It just doesn't make sense that you can have items restricted during and AFTER punishment phase, and I know Riot does it to reduce the amount of free content in their game. Nothing's wrong with needing to make a profit but everything Riot does is for $$$. Last post I'll make, thanks for the answers.

See, with that kind of attitude you prove exactly why they do this. Like I said before they do this so that people are forced to prove that they actually deserve these kinds of free rewards for good behavior. Why should they give free stuff to people who can't prove that they can behave like a civilized and respectful person? Answer: they shouldn't and don't.

Bottom Line: While it may stink to still be restricted, if you know that you can prove that you deserve the free stuff then you should have nothing to worry about.

This is a free to play game. You're not paying any money for riots services other than cosmetics. For 5-6 years there was no chest and key system, but they decided to add one to give some players the opportunity for cosmetics without paying. Now you're complaining that you don't get free stuff after you broke the rules. You really are a spoiled little brat aren't you.

This is not a free to play game, moron. Paying for cosmetics is a bigger rip off than anything else, that is why after all these years to have all the content in the store you would need over 5 grand starting from a clean account. Also the bones with leftover meat on them (loot crate and chest) are just another way to trickle dopamine and are a water spec of all the content in the game you will either have to farm for or pay up for otherwise (and seeing as how you can't farm for skins, you either don't get to use them or have to shell out money. And you, the idiot of the day, thinks it's a solid business practice to sell pixels for upwards of 40 dollars . You are an asshat.)

Not only is it stupid but what's worse is:

Riot not giving any guidance on how long the punishments last
Riot not giving any tips or guidelines for stopping this from happening again

And as someone who just bought about 30 cases, the cases aren't worth it anyway. You will only get about 3-4 key fragments a month and when you do get a skin, you might not have enough essence or it might just be a skin you don't want anyway.
