Casual Suggestion: State Punishment Tiers on Login for Newly Punished Players?

I'm not sure if this is already being done, so please disregard this if it is.

So I've seen many players say "How was I supposed to know I'd get perma'd for that??"

Normally, I have little sympathy for those whose behavior in game is, frankly, abysmal. However, on this point I can understand. A person can quite reasonably conclude after one or two restrictions that a chat restriction for toxic chat is what they can expect. Do the same thing and get the same results, right?

Many people don't seem to know that it works differently than that.

I would recommend adding the punishment tiers to their reform screen when they log in, along with the explanation that continuing their current behavior can eventually lead to a permaban. (yes, even for "just fighting back")

  1. They will understand where they stand in the tiers.
  2. They will (hopefully) see that a behavior is additionally judged for it being continuously recurring
  3. Having the tiers in print in front of them may aid the person in seeing the urgency of modifying what they're doing if they don't want to climb the tiers.
  4. Putting the tiers in that screen shouldn't make it significantly longer....it's not a very long list.

Edit: Riot has made no secret of the tiers elsewhere. They're pretty open about that. Riot DOES keep the report threshold a secret for the reason YourSisSwallows stated in the first comment, but not the punishment tiers themselves. I'm just talking about the tiers.

What say ye?

I disagree with this because this will probably allow players close to being perma banned to skirt the line. If people never know if or when they could get perma banned they should always be acting like a decent human instead of saying, "Well I'm only in this tier so I can still be toxic." I honestly don't understand why its so hard for people to just not type horrible things.

If I remember correctly, much of this is stated in the email they send to you for when you receive your first punishment. Most of these posts I see is just ignorance on the players part, not Riot's. If you got your first punishment, wouldn't that normally make anyone panic and try to avoid doing what they've been doing? It's the people who don't want to change that get punished further and continue complaining/feigning ignorance. Also the tier system is known by players, your punishments get worse and they're pretty noticeable punishments. They're not really slaps on the wrist and each is different depending on what you were found guilty for.

I don't really think this is needed and would instead help toxic players skirt the line of avoiding more punishment. Or it would do nothing to improve considering they get ample warnings and plenty of notifications that say to stop this behavior. And if those warnings are sent to a "dead" email that's not Riot's fault either.

I will say I do applaud you for trying to find a solution or suggest ideas. It's always good to keep thinking of ways to help. But this example isn't needed considering it already exists, players just choose to ignore it.

Also if they feel they were unjustly punished or want to know more they can submit a support ticket. The support team is pretty good and I've dealt with them in the past a lot back when the merch shop first started (they were really cool and admitted to a lot of mistakes they made).
