Account hijacked, turns out okay

So I abandon league for a couple years because I am bad. Now I find myself picking it back up. So I try to log into one of my accounts, this one specifically, and none of my passwords match. I reset it, log in, and see that someone's been using it for YEARS, bought a bunch of champs with IP, got up to Plat V, got demoted after playing a few unlucky games. I kind of feel bad for taking it away from this kid now. Still, wonder how this happened. What should I do about this?

if it was your account originally, why feel bad? he stole it from you right? But I would send Riot a ticket about this to make sure the account doesn't get permabanned because of the different IP addresses and such

It just seemed like they put a bunch of effort into it, while I was not using it at all since, like, 2015. At this point, I reckon they have more games played on it than I do. And I am unclear how they would gain access to the account without breaking into my email, which they did not.

I figured out how to send a note to support. We'll see what they say.

I mean at the end of the day, unless you sold or gave the account to them, they still hacked the account and took it from you. Doesn't matter if they got it to challenger, it's still yours. I'm sure Riot will make sure you can prove it's yours but if you have the email access then it pretty much proves it.
