Yet another ban due to 3rd party programs. Is something going on?

So I got an email just a few hours ago notifying that I was banned for use of 3rd party program. This is really upsetting because I'm vacation for my birthday I get this email saying I've been banned.

Now I've been playing since right before season 1. I've never been chat restricted, leave bustered or anything of the sort. I don't flame, I tend to have a level head most of time while playing the game.

I have a lot of cash invested I to this game. I mean well over 1500 bucks. (I wanted to support rito when they were first starting) and I'm a huge collector when it comes to things.

I'd consider myself an average player but I've been trying to climb recently. Now barring all this mind why would I risk something that's so important to me and something I've worked so hard on and supported for so long. I can't wrap my head around it. Especially considering I just shelled out another 20 bucks to buy the vday skin a few days ago.

Now I've been reading a few different thread of people saying they're experiencing the same issue. I can't help to think this is a mistake on riots end. I really wish we can this matter looked into because I don't know I can stomach being unjustly banned from a game I've poured tons of hours and money into.

Some questions:

  1. Have you ever had someone else play on your account?
  2. Have you ever played on someone else's computer?
  3. Do you have any games in your match history that you don't recognize?
  4. Do you use mouse/keyboard macros for any game, League or otherwise?

  3. Do you use mouse/keyboard macros for any game, League or otherwise? I used to have a few macros to run multiple wow clients so I could level up a 2nd account. I'm fairly certain I used those ages ago.

The macros intended for other games has been the common factor I've seen so far. Make a support ticket, tell them what you use and what you use it for. That's going to be your best chance of getting it overturned.

That could easily be when illegal modifications/applications were detected in the client or how it was compromised (if it was). Do not share your information with anyone else, these kinds of problems are exactly why it isn't allowed.

You have a stretch of games during May, June, July of 2016 where your summoner spells keep swapping back and forth and the performance is very inconsistent when clustering the games by their summoner spell locations. Is there a particular reason why that is?

I just started play the game again. I took a break from season 3 till then and was relearning the basics.

No one 'relearning the basics' would keep switching their summoner spells like that... That would just make relearning harder.

Edit: especially in ranked (I can't see the normal games).

I did that after my hiatus. Including swapping the key locations frequently to see what fits my hands and muscle memory better with a new keyboard.

So, now you have been proven to be wrong by 2 separate people, one of whom did not get banned.

Are you done trying to find some ridiculous excuse now?

Go through the OPs match history, scroll down to the bottom. No way it would take 3 months+ of Ranked to figure out pref summoner keybindings...

If you have an accusation to make, make it. And provide proof, otherwise, what you do here is naming & shaming.

Riot already made their accusation and provided punishment, that's all that matters.

He's saying the op's story is fishy. Of course the op wont say "hey i cheated but pls give me my acc back". It's obvious he was sharing account with someone, and now lies about it.

That alone is against the rules. And they can probably see the account being played on two very different locations - that + switching the spells + inconsistent scores (with different spells) = someone else is on your account.

Riot has evidence. Some random guy on the internet does not. So maybe such people should stop playing "Internet-Sherlock" and leave the punishing as well as the commenting to the people who have the actual data.

My beef is not with the bans these people get. I am sure Riot has good reason, and I don't buy the sad excuse stories either. Given how many bots we see in ARAM and even SR, I guess a lot of these people either had it coming for botting themselves, or were dumb enough to buy a bot-leveld account.

My beef is with "clever-in-hindsight-guys" like the one you are currently defending. He talks big like hes the internet sherlock, when all he really has to go on, is the work other people (Riot) did. And its not even like he has their data, hes just trying to pile on the result.

That's something I simply cannot stand.

While he could have been less condescending about it he didnt do anything wrong. OP asked the boards who have zero data so all we can provide is what we can see. Swapping summoner spells is the most common sign of account sharing. Not all who do it account share, but if someone was banned and don't know why, and they have the most common sign of account sharing, it's fair to assume that's the case

According to whom exactly?

Do you have statistical data of banned accounts to back that statement up? Do records of such accounts from which you could draw such data actually exist in the first place? If so, please don't hesitate to enlighten me by posting such findings here, including a reference to the original source. As a scientist, I love me some good spreadsheets =)

If you do not have such data, then I have to be "that guy", and ask you how you come by that statement...because to me, that sounds a lot like something that people "believe, because its nice and simple, and easy to believe"...just like it was easy to believe for people in the 10th century, that the sun revolves around the earth, because it did drop below the horizon, am I right?

However, if some account were to log in with two completely different MAC adresses, the IP range of which indicates ISPs in completely different locations, and exhibit entirely different APMs, champion choice, chat behaviour and contacts, and continue to swap between these 2 states frequently, that I can easily wrap my head around as a sign of account sharing.

But then I would have to ask how you come by such info, because there is no API available for you to get it anywhere.

I am genuinly interested in your answer.

Conjecture 1: People have a preferred way of playing. I prefer F for flash. Some people prefer D because it's closer to their finger. Others D for defense. Etc. Humans are creatures of habit and given the necessary reaction time for flash plays you usually just need to have it memorized.

Conjecture 2: If someone changes flash from F to D, there is a reason for that. Maybe they're trying out something new, maybe it was an accident, maybe it's a different person

Conjecture 3: If after a certain amount of games, it changes from F to D BACK from D to F, it's just logical to assume that it was a different person at the time.

I don't even know if I used conjecture right but it's a sexy word. Either way, apart from just a general consensus that's sorta been commonly accepted in the community... it just makes sense. You don't always need data or proof when logic backs you up. I feel like you're playin the devil's advocate. Like yes, it isn't 100%; there could always be another reason. But it is the most probable reason, without any data one way or another, that this is the case. ESPECIALLY since there was a ban for it. Y'know?

Everything points to that, basically. So you can't say for sure but you can say with a lot of confidence

You did, because you are reaching conclusions based on incomplete information, which is the exact definition of a conjecture.

BUT:

Here you mix things up, or rather, you use "logic" as the everyday term (which is not clearly defined). Formally speaking, you did NOT reach a logical conclusion, you made another conjecture, based on STATISTICS.

Is your conjectorial (this time I don't even know if that is a word ^^) conclusion correct? Yes, most likely. I am actually of a mind with you.

HOWEVER:

You don't always need data or proof when logic backs you up.

When it comes to punish people, and take away their accounts...yes you do.

Not just from a moral angle, but purely as a matter of business acumen...if your customers get the feeling that their investment can be taken at any time without good reason, they take their business elsewhere.

And that's why I stand by my original point: Riot can make these decisions, and make statements about them.

We cannot, because we don't have the data required to do so.

You come here on boards complaining about 3rd party program permanban all shocked and sad, but it never crossed your mind that it might be your friends fault since you let him play on your acc? You never thought that he might have a 3rd program or something riot would find banable?

How do people not think of this stuff.... seriously.

Same thing happend to me man. I've had my account since end of season 1, spent hundreds of dollars, no previous suspensions, and now all of a sudden get permanent banned for a "3rd party program" which I have NEVER used. I have never let anyone else play on my account either. Not worth cheating and getting my account to banned that I've had for so long so hopefully they figure this out. Good luck to you man.
