The report system is a joke

Hey guys, toxic bronzie here, I wanted to give my opinion on why the report system (mainly for toxicity) is a joke. So I was recently chat banned for talking shit in a video game over the internet, pretty funny right? Personally I think this game has gotten A LOT worse, and one the fun things in this game still, is trash talking and I think that the banning someone from chatting is one of the dumbest things in a game that has one way of communication and they remove that one way. If you disagree with me and you think the chat ban is a very good idea, well if someone is being toxic, there's a little thing you can do, and that's mute the player! Crazy I know. But those are just my opinion on the matter. Thanks for reading, and let me know what you think.

EDIT: I forgot to add, my friend once got a chat ban for saying "allahu akbar" every time he got a kill on Ziggs. Grow some fucking skin and just play, this is the internet, people are going to call you a fa##ot, a ni##er, a c#ck, a c#nt etc.

"So I was recently chat banned for talking shit in a video game over the internet"

You should start with this so people dont have to waste time getting to second sentence.

The mute button is not an excuse for you to be an asshole. The mute button exists so that people don't have to deal with your shit for the remainder of the game. The report button exists so that others don't have to ever deal with your shit to begin with, and that they will (hopefully) get a better teammate in your place.

Also, as far as the "grow some skin" argument, it's absolutely stupid. It takes someone with very thin skin to think that verbally abusing and harassing others is fun. Don't get me wrong, a little bit of trash talk can add some fun, but I can guarantee what you are doing is not actually trash talk, it's simply being an asshole.

I dont come online to be a verbal punching bag to some prepuberescent child who has not yet learned that throwing tantrums does NOT get him a cookie.

In real life you get punched in the face if you pull stuff like that. On the internet you get kicked out (aka banned). Welcome to life, little one.

From your post you sound like another one of those people who think that because it's the internet you should be able to say and do whatever you want without being punished for it. Sorry but that's not how things work. Just like in real life you can communicate and interact with other people online without being a jerk while doing so. If all you want to do is be a jerk to others when things don't go your way then expect to be held accountable for your own poor behavior. This is why Riot encourages positive play and rewards those who display good behavior while punishing those who show and display negative behavior as well.

Yes the mute button exists, but it's not an excuse to constantly harass someone in the chat. If someone has proven that they refuse to stop verbally abusing and harassing others then they eventually get removed from the game in the form of a 2-week ban or a permaban. From the Tribunal FAQ:

What's the point of having a language filter if I can get banned for 'adult' language? We aren't out to punish players who use adult language; in fact, very few players are ever banned for saying stuff like "f***, I missed that skill shot" or "damn, fing close game!" However, the language filter is not an excuse to verbally abuse someone in the game. When you verbally abuse or harass someone by calling them "fing *****" or "ngger noob", that's when you've crossed the line and will be punished by the Tribunal. I've said this before and I'll say it again, we aren't trying to clean online games of adult language; we're trying to reform or get rid of jerks who like to verbally abuse and harass other players.

Why is verbal abuse punishable if there is a mute button/language filter? Players shouldn’t need to rely on features like the mute button or language filter to engage with other players in positive ways. When a player verbally abuses another player and forces him to use the mute button, they have already created a negative experience for that player.

From Ulanopo's Knowledge Base:

People who report are simply being oversensitive. The mute button exists for a reason.”

Let’s start with the Riot quote on this (link (http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?p=30696571#post30696571)):

Why is verbal abuse punishable if there is a mute button/language filter? Players shouldn’t need to rely on features like the mute button or language filter to engage with other players in positive ways. When a player verbally abuses another player and forces him to use the mute button, they have already created a negative experience for that player.

Simply put, Riot says no. You can scream and cry all you want, but it is their house and their rules.

With that out of the way, I think the topic deserves some further discussion. The theory is that, if people resolved to care less, then they would be happier. I often refer to this as “Argument from Stoicism” and I think it is a fairly weak philosophy because it places the burden on the person being expected to endure the behavior rather than the person exhibiting the behavior. “You should be able to handle it” is just a flimsy excuse for being a bully or a jerk. I have to be the bigger man so that you can do whatever you want? That hardly seems fair.

There is also the issue of how I spend my limited free time. Like most people, I am constantly required to make value judgments between the different forms of entertainment that are available to me and, let's be honest, we live in an age of nearly limitless entertainment options. If I'm having a bad day in League, I can just fire up Steam and play a whole bunch of games that don't require me to put up with someone's BS.

This is not an issue of weakness or thin-skin; it's a question of choosing activities that don't leave me feeling frustrated and angry. Too many of those experiences and I'll just find something else to do. Riot knows this.

Well, it's clear that your behavior isn't what Riot wants in their game, and thus you were banned, as simple as that.

Take your chat ban as your warning, as with the mindset you currently have it's going to be a matter of time before your punishments begin to escalate, and before we know it, you will come back to the forum saying that they blindsided you with the perma and you deserve a second chance.

Cheers.

Why shouldn't they remove your right to chat if you're being a dickhead?

at this point if the system doesnt change i might just actually go back and start plaring a REAL game like World of Warcraft, You might pay to play but at least you dont come across this kind of shit over and over like ive been seeing in the forums.

Take it like this, most new players are seeing this as a joke and wont even bother, now im starting to see some bigger players from seasons 2-3 and so on, get banned for useless reasons, this system is a joke and its killing its comunity as Riot think htey progress with this game,

i had this instance where ive had one game where 1 guy went afk right off the bat, the other 3 were flaming hardcore to each other and i was in the middle listening to a nice soap opera...

TBH, Riot needs to get off their asses and improve the system of admit that they are the worse company in the world for gaming....at such point where everything you unlock on your account may not be entirely your sole posession??? Buul fucking shit rule

With blizzard, my account may have been inactive since 09, but rest assured a phone call and its reactivate and im ready to go. U can flame at one person and they dont ban you for that shit, its a MMORPG!!!

Keep driving out your community of new and old players Riot, your gonna go bankrupt, Be thankful for your stupid competitions wherre the NA's #1 player makes 1 million dollars playing a fucking game, They probly flamed more than any1 else but i guess were not entitles cause they;'re the ones making this company not fall to the ground.

Good job abusing the new players and gl with your shitty toxic morons who i report n report n dont get crap, its stupid, ive never seen such a stupid game for when i was wrongfully ban in the bot ban wave crap.

Since ive been on the forums ive followed everything and i find out Riot is not what it seems to be. I hope somethings will change or alot more people will end up losing their minds over your stupid analogies.

Lol and you wonder why you're banned.

Itankyou8/9/2016, 8:56:56 PM1 votes

I think getting toxic players banned is more funny when they don't understand why they are being banned. I watch boosted animals run in circles all day confused and dizzy.
