Riot's Moderation on Post Regarding League's Toxicity

Why Lol Is Toxic

So it's come to my attention that a fellow league player has had his post moderated by Riot because he was getting a lot of up votes on the matter of league's community being toxic. So much so, that voting was removed (last reporting having 28 upvotes). However that didn't take it down from being pinned as one of the hot topics on the discussion board's front page. I noticed and clicked on it. Furthermore, I currently am above level 30. When wanting to post on the issue, I see an error that says: "Must be level 7 to comment." Must be another "mishap".

Below is my response to the thread that I couldn't post (more or less a shit post):

I completely agree. But the current discipline system is designed to take money from players who care. Dunkey said it best: "Riot, taking our money and running." without any actual investigation of who instigated a toxic scenario.

If I talked back to the moron who is being a douchebag in game without typing a single lick of anything, and the guy is being toxic with his playstyle and afk farming when the rest of his team needs help in teamfights, and I get banned for calling him out, that's bs. But since the douche in the scenario is playing the game, not typing, it's not actually reportable. That's the kinda crap we're sick of.

There shouldn't be a discipline system if you guys aren't willing to investigate. Watch VoDs of incidents even. You don't think the money we put in is worth a single investigation? And I don't mean your algorithm that goes through chat and looks for toxic words. I mean an actual human that basically "referees" the game.

Look, if people didn't stand up to assholes, America wouldn't exist. But Riot basically are the ppl from across the ocean who just killed Indians and took land because they're a business and it's always all about money.

Also, this is the only thread that has no votes alongside too many others that do.

Epstein didn't kill himself and you didn't have an abnormal mishap on voting. Riot removed it cause it's up on the front page.

EDIT: I was moderated out of this post, I can't reply to any comments or anything. Yes, moderators are community volunteers, but they still do the bidding of Riot in order to gain favor (that favor being moderator privileges with the little badge and everything. wouldn't you do the same? even if it meant being damage control?). It shows the same "Must Be Level 7" error and I can't post any additional discussions.

  1. Your account is bugged - go use the syncing tool on the Discuss the Boards board. You are not being "moderated out of this post". Your account is simply not showing the correct level - and there is no way that is a moderator's fault.
  2. There was and is voting manipulation on the boards - that does not mean the OP was at fault for it, but it still is not acceptable and will be moderated. In this case, it was likely a "vote bot" that someone used to upvote it massively. This was completely clear when it happened.
  3. It does not matter who "instigated" it. It matters who was toxic. The community sets the rules - and the vast majority of the community don't care who "started it" - they only care who was toxic period. That is why you are punished and there is no "review of who instigated it".
  4. No, Riot cannot spend literal hundreds of millions of dollars for "on demand VOD watching". You are not the only player, in fact League has over 100 million monthly players. If you assume even a 5% "report rate" (i.e. a player reports someone in 1/20 of their games) you're looking at hundreds of millions of dollars for enough employees, workspaces, technology infrastructure, benefits for employees, etc to actually make this happen. You are asking for the impossible.

There's one particular player that gets around 20 downvotes on every single post within a minute of the post. And it's absolutely true that these kind of threads tend to not get that many upvotes, let alone in such a short time.

There's definitely somebody screwing with the votes at the moment, and pretending otherwise is just silly. It's not even of any relevance, because as you said yourself, that doesn't remove it from the front page. So I wonder what kind of ulterior motive you think intentionally restricting votes would help accomplish.

Small sidenote: You show to me as "level 0", so there's definitely something wrong with your account specifically. So unless you somehow feel important enough to be silenced specifically there's really no grounds for a conspiracy theory there.

Edit: rujitra is the player I mentioned, and is, as you can see, comfortably sitting at 18 downvotes despite even helping you with your forum problem. Feel free to tell me that's normal.

Ya, the lvl 7 is a known boards bug for a long time now. Just sync your account and you should be able to post normally.

There was upvote manipulation. 28 upvotes in 17 minutes is not normal for PB boards, and even less normal for that topic of "Riot doesn't punish trolls, but I get punished for responding".

Infact, you can see the manipulation here where rujitra and only him has been constantly getting 20ish downvotes shortly after he posts. It only happens to him, not to others.

Hey there,

That's really troubling that you're unable to comment on posts. Is your problem still persisting? Let me know if it is. We don't have any tools that allows only posting discussions and not comments. You're either full on or full off.

I locked the voting because in a matter of minutes, it had shot up to the 20s, which again is really abnormal for PB, even if it's a popular post or a red response, so I'd locked it. It's unfortunate though, as that action and my response end up taking away from a lot of the discussion happening in that thread, which wasn't my intention when I did lock the voting.

With regards to your idea of putting in referees in games, it sounds fun, but there are a ton of games happening on any given hour. Still, who says that solo farming isn't the best way to win? As a team, everyone is going to have different ideas that will help them win the game, starting from champ select, but also including itemization and macro strategy. If someone's doing something that you don't believe to be ideal, then suggest as much. But if they're unwilling to listen to your opinion, that doesn't give you the right to grief or harass them.

Best of luck to you on the Rift.

The censor gods will bash every topic to hell which tries to mention that the punishment system for gameplay offenses is shit.

Even when you post about a troll (removing the names) who goes full manaregen Kha in 3 (non consecutive) games and does not get banned, they take down that post too.
