Best way to fix toxic community and ranked games

After coming back to League I still see a lot of the same problems. One bad person on a team can ruin it for everyone. We're locked into playing w/ people we don't know and when they threaten our progress, the anonymity and frustration cause us to lash out.

But what if they couldn't ruin it for us? What if a loss because of nothing we did didn't harm us as much? What if we were able to at least keep the same elo or maybe even gain?

Tonight I played 4 ranked games.
Game 1: mid AFK after bot is 0/12 8 minutes in Game 2: Bot (again) 2/12 and top 0/8

What I'd like to recommend is rank is based on score and not on win/loss Match the consisent "b" players w/ "b"players Match the "s" players w/ "s" players

That way even if everyone on your team is feeding, you still have a purpose. There's a reason not to go afk... you can still work on your grade, limit your deaths, work on your CS. In so doing, your whole team will benefit. Now we root for everyone to do their best and get their best grade possible and extend a little more grace to people who are having a bad game.

If I'm in a ranked game, I get an "s" on my hero, but we lose, should I really lose as much elo? AFter all, I played great, did my best, tried to help my team. I got an S... not much else I can do. Why punish me for things out of my control?

Punish me for things in my control.... my "grade", my chat, my honor, etc.

Yes, because the only statistics that matter are the W or L.

You can get an S by going 10/0, having a lot of cs... but never being in a teamfight, never defending an objective, always playing way too safe and never helping anything.

The win is all that matters - not your KDA, not your CS, not your <insert other stat here>.

The issue with judging a person's skill based on kda or grade is there are many decisions that have an effect on the result of the game that either the grade doesn't judge or judges incorrectly.

For example;

Let's say an Udyr sees that the team is losing teamfight after teamfight, so instead of sticking with the group and losing more teamfights he heavy pushes top drawing several members to deal with him. And although he might die from such a decision without anything to show for it on his end, his team capalizes on the absence of players and either wins a team-fight or takes important objectives because of a numbers advantage. The result would be a better chance for his team to win but all around his performance would look worse than if he only sort-of participated in team-fights while fighting passively (avoiding confrontations that would likely result in his death).

This will force players to care about their K/D/A more than actually winning a match. It will ruin any possibility for players actually wanting to work together.

i like the idea but but i can see some drawbacks.... i mean if you average S's in low teirs and then when you start moving up it seems obvious to me that ratings are going to steadily go down and that seems like it would just drop you back down... idk though maybe im overthinking it
