Should Riot Unbann Peoples Accounts After Season As Over?

I know it is called a permanent ban for a reason but after once season that should be enough time for people to either reform or literally just know that they should be careful with what they say and do. I don't think permanent bans really make a difference because that person can keep making accounts and doing the same thing over. If someone spends money on your game and they get banned for eternity and cant refund that makes them unsatisfied. Myself spending over 300$ to get banned because I am a toxic person and to never play with the cosmetics I got again and I know it was my fault and I made that choice of being toxic. But after a season you should be UNBANNED. It would just make sense. If people spend money on your game let them play.

Riot has previously tried experiments in letting permanently banned players recover their accounts. The success rate, even even among players specifically hand chosen, was abysmally low. As such, permanently banned players no longer are provided options to recover their accounts. This is not a policy I think Riot will consider, because the price you pay for unbanning players is introducing a lot more toxicity back into the game queue.

A permanent ban is not Riot's way of saying "reform". A permanent ban is Riot's way of saying "we don't want you to be a part of the League community anymore". By the time Riot gives you a permanent ban, they want you to move on. They don't want you back - hence why they don't let you back. Riot gives you enough chances to reform. If you don't do so by the permanent ban, you don't deserve your account back.

Your option is to start all over, and if you truly have reformed you will not lose your new account.

I think it would be kinda neat to add a step between 14 day suspension and perma ban. Perhaps if they did a "till next season ban" in between and if it's within two weeks before the new season, they extend it for another year, that might be interesting. But otherwise, permas should stay being permas.

You had multiple chances to reform your behavior before the permaban. You didn't use them.

pretty sure it would be too hard to make this work properly for Riot to care about

what would be more effective is make sure you ban the person for a good enough reason, and warn them very properly first

I definitely think people should not be banned if they disconnect from a game without it being clearly obvious they quit out of spite or to be negative

as some people may literally be being forced to leave or their power / internet might be going out

No, a perma ban is Riot saying "We told you to reform and you didn't, get out and don't come back"

You're banned because you're simply a toxic and abusive player who needed to step away from the game and your account to notice that your behavior is not conducive to a winning atmosphere. Are there times when things get heated and people just cannot help themselves and get into a flaming fight with someone, yes! And there are systems in place for you to get warnings that your behavior is just not right. When the account is banned - it's gone. There is nothing that can be done, there are no resets and everything is 'okay' when the season is over because you're likely to return to the same ways you were before. I've had too many accounts banned and I have spent a lot of money over the years and sometimes look back on my losses as regrets for being a 'douche' to people. Just open a new account and learn from what you did wrong before. You might have a lot more fun that way too!
