2 week ban as first punishment for vulgar language?

Normally i believe that Riot would ban people justly and fairly, but a two week ban for using vulgar language after being provoked by the same player multiple games is kind of harsh. I understand that my actions were out of line but there are ways around that (mute,language filter) Don't get me wrong, its right to punish me for my actions as they were unsportsmanlike but it was only in chat in 1 game, I feel that a Chat Restriction is the punishment that i fairly and should have had.

I'm not toxic, it was just a bad day.

If your “vulgar language” was a form of hate speech or was you telling someone to kill themselves, and/or if you have had prior chat restrictions, then yes, you will get a 14 day ban. It is not the responsibility of others to mute/filter you - it is your responsibility to not say things in the first place.

I've never been chat restricted before that's why i don't get why my punishment was so severe. What i said wasn't very nice but its not hate speech or telling someone to kill themselves. I agree that my actions should have been punished... but a two week ban? why would they not perma chat restrict me before they go to that?

I think i called him a %%%, but i didn't think that fell under hate speech. (i was drunk at the time so i don't recall everything) I thought hate speech was targeting out a specific group of people and flaming them?

A perma chat restriction is not a punishment that Riot gives. The punishment tiers are:

10-Game Chat Restriction 25-Game Chat Restriction 14-Day Ban Permanent Ban

Using hate speech will skip the first two tiers and slingshot you directly to a 14-day ban. Any further punishment will result in a permanent ban regardless of the severity. That is the next and final tier of punishment. You can reduce your punishment tier over a very large number of games played without valid reports, but in Riot's eyes you are going to be on thin ice for some time.

They don't permachat restrict. It only creates trolls, which are far harder to detect than flamers. When people get emotional, and they cant lash out in chat, they will resort to gameplay trolling.

Homosexual slur, Fbomb, Nbomb. Guess i had it coming, that's what i get for playing drunk :/ I still think a 2 week is a little much though especially since i was being provoked. Riot knows i'm not a toxic player i've been playing since it started and havn't ever been chat restricted.

Live and learn brother. Though I've never even been chat restricted, I've found I need to to play while I am hangry. It would seem as though you are an inter-light-angry-drunk. Just remember you will be on the razor's edge after this ban, so maybe best to not chat at all any game for a good long while, lest you get perma banned. Would hate to hear of that happening. lol

Yeah that's what im worried about, i dont want to get reported for having a bad game or two then get a perma ban after all the time i put into this game... that would suck. Do they do like a probation period or something where if you get your honor back up and stuff you wont be on the "razor's edge"?

Yeah, you can get out of ban-purgatory. And I think it depends on honors, though I don't know for sure. It depends poorly on your chat behavior as far as I know, so as long as your behave there you will be fine in no time. :)

In other words, /mute all is the suggested build for you.

god I love these forums.

yea I get you man they care more about examples than actual toxicity. like me I get a bit too heated sometimes and ruin the game by /all chatting everything that's wrong with the enemy champions all game. even though it's not particularly vulgar I'm highly surprised I haven't recieved any chatbans or other bans.

gotta get better at that, maybe I'll start /mute all'ing in games I'm having a bad time.
