Welcome Toxic Summoners,

 I've recently been getting chat restricted a lot.  Yes, not the best way to start off this post but I don't care.

Back on topic, I'd like to bring up the fact that us players can get chat restricted, and banned for being toxic. Us being negative in the chat is such a problem apparently. If only there was a solution to it... oh yea MUTE THE PLAYER I would understand players being punished for being toxic if there wasn't a mute button. I believe if they want to punish us for being toxic, then they should remove the mute button. If players aren't going to use it for toxic players, then why have it in the first place. I believe that a big part of video games is being able to be better than other players and brag about it. Growing up, I'd love being able to out-skill someone else and be able to brag about it. It made it rewarding. I am unable to beat someone in a 1v1 and call them bad, I am unable to tell my 0/10 top laner that he's bad. Am I being toxic or am I just stating the facts ? O_o I honestly believe that not allowing people to shit talk in a video game is stupid. Do people not have tough skin anymore? Does a simple "you're trash", "stay out of ranked", "Monkey" really upset you that much? I personally could care less, if someone is being annoying and just being toxic, I mute them. Problem solved. Should they be banned ? No, it didn't bother me and it shouldn't have bothered my team-mates or the enemy team. They should have just muted him just as I did. X
My main point being that if Riot wants to punish players for being toxic. they should remove the mute button. If there was no way to deal with toxic players such as the mute button, then punishments would be completely justifiable. They should focus on players hacking, players purposeless losing games. Not players crying over a Riven main calling them trash. I'd like to here what the community thinks of this. Cast your vote below!

Muting is for when someone has already ruined your current game.

Reporting is so that no one else has to have their game ruined.

Their game ruined? Someone being toxic doesn't ruin the game. I am talking about chat strictly, not how they play. I'd like more of an explanation.

Chatting can ruin a person psychological state, when people get flamed alot of people feel the need to flame back, destroying their focus and spending less on mechanics/ingame decision making and more of arguing with other person over irrelevant stuff.

Those who talk smack in the game are less likely to play well because they spend too much time talking shit, if you have to have a gameplay related reason to the ban.

But really, the thing is simple: No one likes to play with a chatty embodiment of toxicity.

Trust me, if I am 0-1 and my mid suddenly starts saying I am inting, throwing, feeding his Zed. It will affect my game.

And your examples in the OP are just terrible. There is no reason to say those things. This isn;t about being able to brag, maybe you should just grow up.

Ever gotten tilted off of chat alone? Been flamed by your entire team for missing one ability? That's how a game gets ruined.

Not that I remember. I don't understand how anyone could tilt over that. More on that, I can mute their pings as well.

FTFY. If you're getting muted and reported over and over again, the problem is with you.

If your door knob cut you every time you opened the door, would you just keep putting Band-Aids on your fingers every time you opened the door or would you fix/replace the door knob? Same idea. Chat restriction is your hint you need to fix something before you get removed.

So you're telling me I'm not allowed to be mad when I get a 0/10 top laner. A player DC's, and when I get a inting riven in ranked. I understand just being toxic with no reason, just spamming them when they're not doing anything wrong. I don't want to allow toxic behavior completely, but lessen what is considered toxic. I'm tired of getting reported for being toxic cs I flame I player who is purposeless inting and dc's.

Of course I'm not saying that. I'm saying you can find a better way to deal with that anger.

You're not the only one here who has experienced that, we all have. You just have to find a better way to vent. If you want, bring it all here to the Boards and start a discussion about it, plenty of people do that (just leave out the names, board rules).

One thing that helps me keep my calm is focusing on my own play. Yes, we probably lost that game because of the 0/10 top and the DC, but I could have warded up their jungle better and looked for an opportunity to take some camps. Or I should have realized when I was overextended and backed away. Or I should have pushed that one time. When you do all that it's easier to realize it wasn't all your teammates fault (even if a majority of the problems came from them).

the mute button and language filter is in place to protect players from flame, not to allow the use of it.

if a player is forced to use these tools in order to play with you, are you already breaking the terms (you agreed to follow, when you made the account and every update after) that allow you to play in the first place.

You misunderstand. No hurt is being given, or even much offense. Instead, what you are doing is making a game that can be tense and challenging more tense and more challenging.

And you aren't giving anything back by doing it. In this case, if you can't say something nice or encouraging, don't type.

Your rage doesn't do anything but make things more tense and annoying.

Calling someone "Bad" is something id call light toxicity, the kind that shouldn't result in a ban, if you're cussing people out and telling them to Kermit, then you should be banned. Trash talk is ok, Bullying isn't, and I doubt people get banned for just typing "you're bad, stay out of ranked monkey" in all chat
