After 3 years....

So I don't want this to be looked at as me complaining that Riot doesn't take the time to care about the community, because I know that they try... But Something has definitely got to give with the community. I believe most will see this as a rant, but know that I do now, and will always have the best interest in League of Legends.

I'm not a beta tester, I haven't been here since season 1, but I did start in May of season 3... Boy oh boy has it been a journey since then. I've learned so much about MOBAs, but League was always the one I chose. There are an insane amount of champions to choose from, champs get reworked, there are nerfs and buffs to balance the game... Sure they aren't perfect, but NO game is perfect, and I believe that Riot does want us as their community to have a great time when playing the game. I live 500 miles from my best friends, and honestly we used to form parties and play all night, and bond quite a bit... It saddens me to say that we went from having a group of 6+ People (It was pretty much first on guaranteed your spot in a 5 man group,) to there just being 2 of us, and we only play every few days, sometimes weeks go by without us jumping on league; this has so much to do with the overall behavior of the community.

Where does such toxic behavior come from? Why is it that I can go three straight matches with either people working against their team (assisting the enemy team,) going afk, or just straight up having a bad attitude? The community that once said "Good luck, Have fun" at the beginning of the game, now thinks of things to say that will piss off either their own team, or the enemy team. I am NOT saying the community used to be perfect, but I think most people will agree that things have gotten increasingly bad as far as the community is concerned. There are many reasons why... A younger crowd plays the game and they tend to be immature, people think that because they get trolled, they should do the trolling as well, and perhaps one of the most vexing of reasons: BECAUSE STREAMERS AND YOUTUBERS DO THESE THINGS. I was in a game, and I was jungling, I accidentally took a kill from my adc so he didn't get his double, and he proceeded to tell me That if he was Tyler1 he would have ran down mid lane and died twice (kind of as a warning to not take his kills.) There are youtubers out there who help make this game a terrible one by giving players them someone negative to look up to. Just the other night while playing ranked, we had a Darius who was a really talented player.. We had the opportunity to end the game, so naturally we tried, but he went to Baron by himself, died doing baron alone, then THREATENED us that if the mid adc did not apologize, he would afk and cost of the match. Naturally, I chose to try and mediate the situation and I said sorry, which wasn't good enough for him since I wasn't the one he was mad at. Long story short, he sat at fountain and talked until we lost... And proceeded to say he had a main account so he didn't care if he was banned. I lost 19 LP over someone who legitimately had no reason to do us wrong... The icing on the cake was during the end game lobby, I reported Darius (Knowing nothing would happen,) and the enemy team was going on and on about how they honored him and reported the rest of us (I actually didn't argue with Darius, or say more than a few short and friendly words.) Whether they reported us or not, I cannot confirm, however I know they didn't report the Darius. If I win a match, but notice someone was intentionally feeding, or was verbally abusive, I report them! The golden rule of life is to do unto others what you'd have done to you, and I strongly support that. Some people are gonna say get over it, there are trolls everywhere, but that is like laying down and accepting the fate of the game I once loved so much.

I don't expect anything to be done, and I suppose this was more of a venting post, but it sucks to see the community in such a terrible state.

I strongly agree with you. I hope Riot tries to moderate those youtubers as well since they are somewhat of the problem. I'm sure there are great people out there such as you and I hope there's more of you out there on the Rift :3

I'm in like the exact same boat. Who would prefer a toxic troll-infested community? I'm not sure why exactly I stopped playing, but the tilting idiots definitely played a part. It's just such a negative vibe in this game now and we all just kinda get grouchy after playing a few games dealing with this shit.

Oh, the reason for the toxicity growth is simple, crests hype died down so there is no motivation to be honorable and botting became more rampant throughout the years so even if you get permabanned you can hop to another account(Look at Tyler1 , he is still playing, just offstream), unless you spend absurd amounts of money on the account there is no real consequence to getting banned for most of those people since they can just hop onto a smurf. and no matter how much better the report system gets, as long as one can just buy a level 30 account and hop back into rankeds nothing will change.

I was thinking maybe if a bunch of players band together and ask Riot to have a page where we could put names of toxic players and what they did or said to make our experience uncomfortable not to mention the affect it has on how well we enjoy playing. It could be a page all players could go to search a name to see if anyone else had a bad experience with that person. Riot could keep track of total number of reports on said person, how often said person played and percentage of played nice vs played and was toxic plus players would have access to those names. They could have a check box for "do u want this player banned perma", do u want this player to be banned from chat, etc. Just a thought.

Please edit and space out paragraphs, I know you were typing in a venting mode but now that you're done. It makes it much easier to read. Had to do it in my head while reading but still a pain.

Also I agree with you 100% I played League with friends for 3 years now literally none of us play. I have played precisely 3-5 games in the past 5-6 months and on a seperate account I used to be Diamond 3 playing 6-7 games daily.

I now play Overwatch, I'm even on a team. League is quietly becoming a game for children because their change of Dynamic Q made the game more catering to casuals and Teenagers and the behavior system is still overall pretty crappy.

Every online game has toxic players Out of the 30 or so ranked games I've played only maybe 2 have been ruined by quitters/afkers. There were aholes in the other ones but I don't let chat bother me as people trolling in chat has been going on in every game since I started online games in 1997.
