Reporting has gotten out of control.

This game makes it too easy to just report someone on a whim, I just had a bad ranked game as annie where I got killed early on and then ganked several times and fell behind. My top laner (a guy who auto locked in teemo even though we desperately needed an AD tank) and my jungler immediately start flaming me, blaming me for losing the game, calling me shit etc. I obviously defend myself, tell them its not really my fault for top lane not doing well, they don't care and still spam chat telling the other team to report me for feeding and being toxic. End of the game I get reported by almost everyone there just because I was having an off game. Why is this the norm for this game anymore? Does riot think this type of punishment is justified? The report system is just absurd, people abuse it way too often and nothing has been done about it ever.

I would assume you have chatlog, you should show us. Really the best and only way to defend yourself in this game is to mute the person and report them afterwards. Confronting them usually only makes matters worse and is just unneeded as it usually just makes more evidence against you as well!

Report does not equal punishment

Only 1 report against 1 person counts per game, so it doesn't matter that everyone reported you, it holds the same weight

Also, if they report for little to no reason, their report credibility goes down

Were you actually punished or just reported?

Reporting only triggers reviews of your behavior. No amount of reports changes what that review will find. It is the results of that review that leads to a punishment. That combined with your behavior history determine what the punishment will be.

The reporting system is definitely broken.

You can report for anything and even if you are lying, there's no punishment.

There's no reason not to report anyone who says anything negative. The system basically encourages the reporting through their "mute and report" guidelines.

Think my favorite part is when someone says report in /all and the opposing team members will verbally agree to it, or when someone on the opposite team just randomly says they will report you on behalf of your team.

Sure hope false reporting is still in effect because those reports are certainly being wasted.

Its not the norm... not for me anyways. It's more normal for me to have 1 or 2 people like that in the game. I've never had a whole team report me (that I know of) especially the other team too. When someone on your team goes all chat to tell them to report you, you just won. Let them fucking report you. Defending yourself is opening yourself up for punishment. Most people on the opposite team understand that they don't know what's been said on your team and who's toxic. The only way I can see them actually reporting you is if you went to all chat to retaliate and insult them back or "defend yourself"... in which case, why the fuck are you all chatting mid game? Just focus on the damn game play man... you're losing focus and joining in and extending a flame war. Stfu and play next time plz. There is no defending yourself against meaningless words on the internet. There's no reason to defend.. their attacks are just meant to annoy you and place blame on you. But why do you care if people think you're to blame? You know these people? Do you work with them? Don't wanna look them in the eye thenext day at work cuz they think you're the reason they lost a match of league?

Did they all tell you they reported you or what? How did you know? Did you get a warning or something? If not I wouldn't worry about it because 1 report is the same as 9 as far as flagging a game goes. Defending yourself is fine and all but try not to come off toxic. But reports that are just on a whim and not valid won't do anything anyway.

Also you could have reported both of them for harassment. Asking for reports is not allowed.

I received one of those "your recent behavior is unacceptable" type messages that popped up when I was sitting in queue. And they all said verbatim "report noob mid annie, feed and toxic" and multiple people told me they did in lobby afterwards.

Actually, Erdrik is correct here.

A report flags a game for review. They do not establish guilt. The game is then reviewed for harassment, feeding, etc. This is why 'troll reporting' or 'gang reporting' do not work. False or inaccurate reports are thrown out.

You cannot ever be punished for saying nothing .. unless of course it's for something gameplay related like feeding, afking or cheating. But, you can never be punished for offensive language, hate speech or verbal abuse if you said nothing.

I mean, unfortunately this game has a lot of toxic people that flame and do negative stuff. So its hard to not encounter that.

I had a Garen in my game and he did nothing but dance in base type in chat how his dance moves are good, it was essentially a 4v5 AND a really winnable game if he had tried to play. I hope he gets punished so other people don't have him ruin their games. His name is Morefyer.

A tip i have for you is to just mute those people(ignore them) and focus on your game, trying to win, mechanical skill, etc.

And u probably won't get punished, because to get punished you would have to have quite a bit of reports(not just 1 game of reports). Also, riot will look over the reports and in game chat and see if you really were inting(intentionally feeding) and being toxic. If they find you doing it then they will punsih you. Otherwise they will see that the reports were false and invalid and not punish you.
