Removing chat from view (Persisted Settings)

Am I allowed to change the variable that controls chat scaling in the file "Persisted Settings" where I can no longer see my chat in game? Received a 14 day ban for toxicity when retaliating against a premade in norms and this is the simplest way I can stay positive and enjoy the game(first time ever being penalized but went straight to 14 day ban). Is there a system in place that will see the variable changed and think I'm doing something unfair or is it completely ok for me to change it? I don't want to get banned for changing it as well lol.
