League of Legends account has been banned until Sun Feb 22 22:22:22 UTC 9001

After a long period of my being 'away from keyboard' I come back to see that my past has come back to haunt me once more. I had been permabanned for using 3rd party programs. The catch, I haven't used any such programs since forever ago and genuinely have been attempting to improve my play by learning the game and making it more enjoyable for the people around me through generally good attitude. I don't deny the use of third party programs on my account and do believe riot has every right to permanently suspend my account but I feel cheated at the same time because I did stop using them about a month ago (and continued playing, it wasn't just because I wasn't on.) I'm not asking to be rewarded but at least bring some amount of awareness that I had already changed and this Punishment was not needed in my eyes. (Not that my eyes really matter.) I also never exploited cheats for any binge sessions, if I did use a script it was once every like 10-20 games not consistent basis.

I'm not sure exactly how to get an actual rioter to notice this post so any help would be appreciated and please refrain from saying "don't cheat" in the comment section cause I understand, I already stopped. Ultimately my goal is to get to obviously try and get my account back but also to just raise the question, should people be banned for things that they have stopped doing. ex: Scripts, Toxicity, Unsportsmanlike like Conduct & Why should they be banned.
